Well, I went with a K&N free-er flowing, drop-in, air filter.

I realize that by it being shown that it is free-er flowing, some filtration would have to be given up. However, I don't believe that minute difference is going to make a difference in engine longevity.

Also, I was concerned about any oily residue building up on the MAF sensor and / or throttle body. I got past that ...

Can I notice a difference? My intuition tells me that there must be a difference, because it allows the engine to breathe easier, thus producing a bit more power.

I believe that it may help minimize the so called "torque dip", although I'm not certain that my car suffered from that.

It may allow the engine to be a bit more responsive throughout the power band and allow faster rpm gains at the upper end. However, when I dropped that sucker in, the weather turned significantly colder here .... and as you know, colder air makes for a peppier engine.

So, I figured, what the hell, just spring for the $50 and see how that puppy works .... after all, it's easily reversable.

Yep, for whatever the why fors, I'm keeping it in....

Yeah I just noticed that looking at a different pic. I thought the silver had the chrome housing. Either way, they look really good for "replica" headlights

I was waiting to see someone with a BRZ bumper on an FRS, looks pretty cool. How is fitment? Can't wait to see it painted and badged. Do you think you'll have any trouble putting Toyo/Scion badges on it since the sub badges are wider and more oval? @moomoopanda

Well, yes, of course, at least.....

My buddy bought one of those knock-off K&Ns, made in China, from used bamboo shoots. Yep, the crickets in his FR-S really liked it, they just chirped away.

Then, one day, the filter disintegrated, a piece knocked the stem off the MAF sensor, which told the ECU to tell the engine to go really really fast and since a piece of the bamboo jamed the throttle body flapper thing wide open and it over rode the rev limiter ......the result was not a pretty sight.......

Seriously, good deal you got......but I'll betcha ya didn't get the sticker with it ..... that's where the torque difference comes from....

humfrz - I think it's time for my meds ....

The fitment is perfect. The headlights and mounts are all the same, so the bumper fits on just like the frs bumper. The badge slot is cut pretty differently compared to the Toyota/Scion badge, so I don't think you'll be able to put anything other than a Subaru badge on.. I actually probably will be putting a Subaru badge on.. Might replace my rear badge too just for kicks..

On another note, those Winjet headlights look great. Definitely gonna look into a set of the chrome housing sometime in the Spring..
