Chinese Ca-Fi knockoff has been rooted! Torque works!

Found this app gauges/tuning theres a few utubes too. If it works, will be nice for minor adjustments of real tuned file w/out a pc.

Edit: my guess it communicates to their piggyback. (No official brz-frs support - but e420d Basic has been installed).

Does anyone happen to have a Valentine 1 with the V1 Connection? There is an app called YaV1 that I would like to see if its compatible with this headunit. Its basically a radar detector app that shows on screen infomrmation from the V1 and allows gps lockouts as you run into electric doors or speed signs. If the app works well with these headunits, i'll surely buy one soon and ditch the phone app.

Im ordering mine today. I also have the V1 so will try to integrate and post on here. I also have the red leds and will be doing the conversion.

Ok, so tried to order on the tradesolutions site...what a pain n the ass. Lets me go through the whole process up to payment, then wont go any further. Anyone have experience with units somewhere else? Can i order from ebay? Tradesolutions site payment process sucks.

I see this unit was mentioned early on in this thread, I can't tell if anyone has verified this is the same as all the rest with just a different face...

Would the same root roms work on it?

I'm at a loss, I'll still see if they send me the latest MCU and if that does anything, but I think I'm ready to return it. Probably exchange it for the same one, they offered to exchange it for a 4.1 but I don't have a problem with how the 2.3 works and I want root. I just don't know that this isn't going to happen all over again... Maybe I'll just get a refund and wait...
The folks over at 4pda (Hal9k's stomping ground) have a copy of a 2.11.4 MCU update (attached to this post). Try that instead.

Sounds like there are different versions of the hardware which require different MCU updated.

My advice to new folks upgrading - don't upgrade the MCU.

(Note: I haven't tested the file - upgrade at your own risk. Please post if it works or fails)

LOL, they got it from the OUKU thread at xda, where the day I returned my unit someone else screwed his up the same way. He was able in two days to do what I couldn't do in a month. Get a copy of the MCU.

It is confirmed,
changing MCU can brake sound.
Either downgrading from original 2.11.4 or upgrading from lower original to 2.11.4 brakes the sound, restoring to the original version fixes it. Too bad I already sent mine back, waste of money. Waiting for my replacement now.

For anyone wanting to flash rooted rom on their unit. There is no need to change MCU, in fact there is no need for an MCU file to even be there, give yourself a favour and delete the " p, li { white-space: pre-wrap; } 318a2e70-44bf-11e1-b1cf-000c29ba27c0" file from the SD card

I'm not sure what you are asking. What do you mean by 'solving car kit'?

I am, however, currently in the process of incorporating the changes from Hal9k's second release into our ft86 firmware (but don't get your hopes up - there aren't really that many changes). I will also be adding in support for USB OBD2 devices (as described http://brady.thtech.net/) - but this will be mostly untested, as I don't own a USB OBD2 cable yet.

When I do a release I'll start a new thread, with the first few posts reserved for a FAQ, tips etc.

Hey @GreenPants I'm not sure you saw the rom posted on the OUKU thread at xda it might cut a few steps for you, also with the new MCU issue you might want to consider leaving the MCU file out as well keep those as a separate download.

And last but not least, we started to try and consolidate all this info into wiki pages. Thanks to everybody for the amazing amount of work on these units.

Yep, I'm fully aware of the wiki & recent ROM posting (jakejm79 PM'ed me a bit about it while he was cooking it).

Music App plays back to front?

Hiya Greenpants,

I just flashed v3 firmware onto my TUN21A and it works really great and looks super snazzy! beautiful loading animation and background, and a clean rom. I did notice that after I flashed somehow my stock music app (with nice orange background) now plays and lists my music in reverse order. (i.e. Z-A and 9-1)

Would you know what might be the cause of this issue? In the pages of thread before I think someone had a similar problem. Any ideas on how the problem could be fixed?

Thanks for all the great efforts you and other peepz on this thread have put in. the firmware really does look sweet!

Rob
