Maybe he dreamed he owned one? Ford Engineer?

I doubt it, who knows though.

okay well like i said, the source you are using posted different numbers than you are claiming. you said the previous model weighed in at 3533 but that isnt the weight of the v8. if you reread your source you will see they say they guess it will weigh about 100lbs more.

It is but it makes up for it in all the right areas. The M3 doesn't feel heavy like the Mustang does although it outweighs it by about 200 pounds. I still plan on trying out the new GT. $10k is enough to tempt me into sacrificing some amenities but I don't want to lose a lot of the experience. If they have managed to make it drive like a lighter car, then there may still be a possibility. I'm hopeful.

I'm not wasting my time with Edmunds, they may not kiss Porsche's ass like Motor Trend does but they are just as douchey.

stop doing this if you want people to take what you have to say seriously.

im not saying that the mustang is somehow better because it weighs less. im just saying its not logical to say that if the mustang gets any heavier, you are going to have to buy the even heavier m3.

its just odd that people are so quick to criticize either side of the coin. solid rear axles save a lot of weight and then when they ditch them people complain because its going to add weight.

My car buying habits are odd to some. In order for me to buy a Mustang, it would have to cut weight since I didn't like the drive. It felt like a boat. I compare all aspects but the biggest thing I care about is how the car feels. I didn't like the solid rear because it bounces around everywhere you go when daily driving.

When I bought my BRZ, the other cars I was comparing it with were a 335i, Audi A5, 370Z and C6 Corvette. I'm normally all over the place since I like so many different parts of different cars. I need to just build my own one day.

I disagree about the live rear. My Monte Carlo SS has a solid rear axle and it does not bounce everywhere. With the right suspension and tires it can be very practical and predictable cornering. I've driven several different mustangs and I never liked the setup not to mention you see at least 1 mustang every 5 minutes. I wouldn't blame the solid rear because of one car. Just my 2 cents.

Our roads here are absolutely terrible. I couldn't take an on/off ramp doing more than 25-30 with out damn near going off the road. I can take it at double that easily in my twin. I don't necessarily blame the solid rear in all cars. I just didn't like it in the Mustang. I totally agree with how common they are although they have become much less common in recent times.

Seriously, comparing GT86/BRZ with new Mustang?

The only "rivals" are Toyota GT86/Subaru BRZ, BMW M253i and Porsche Cayman S. Can't think of anything else. The Alfa 4C is too niche, like Lotus.

Mustang Platform Spawning an FR-S Rival?

http://carbuzz.com/news/2013/12/8/Mu...Rival-7717502/

Taken from carbuzz.com...

"Well, that didn’t take long. Only days after Ford revealed its all-new 2015 Mustang comes word that its platform could be utilized for future models. While there have been previous rumors that this new rear-wheel-drive platform could one day underpin a new Lincoln, a Ford executive recently stated that this probably won’t happen. Instead, Ford would be more gung-ho to come up with something smaller than the Mustang, a Toyota GT86/Scion FR-S competitor.

This exec reiterated that the Mustang’s platform "is totally unique. It doesn’t share anything with other platforms." It’s actually kind of hard to believe that the company, who’s really proud of its "One Ford" global product plan, would allow that totally modern RWD platform not to be utilized further. The thought of a future Lincoln halo car does sound great, yet a smaller and more affordable model sounds more realistic. After all, sales of the GT86/FR-S and Subaru BRZ have been through the roof, thus proving how profitable such a car could be for Ford. “There’s a lot we can do with Mustang. I can’t talk about the details at this moment, but there’s a great heritage we can draw from,” the Ford exec concluded."
