I've been download since last night of the 15 GB file. Then it took over 2 hours to install. Then downloaded the 1.2 GB day one patch. Now I'm going to play.

It works for me. You just have to change the setting from tap talk to attachment.

Happy Friday.

My son and I went to see friends who race the 25 Hours of Thunderhill. It was good seeing old racing buddies. Made me want to get back in a car. Several friends were either driving or crewing. It was seriously cold.

The start:

The winning Audi TTRS was crewed by 034 Motorsports from Fremont. The team manager is a former customer from when we rented out spec miatas.

The no. 24 Rotek Racing/034 Motorsports Audi TTRS. It was driven by Robb Holland, Kevin Gleason, Jeff Altenburg, Roland Pritzker and Rob Huff. They covered 705 laps (1,819 miles) in 25 hours. They had about a 30 lap lead and could have parked it for the last hour and won.

Al Unser Jr still knows how to drive. He set the fastest lap of the race...1:37.789.

The car Unser and his son drove.

These Mazda 6 diesels (3 of them) were built in under a month. One car was driven by dealers, including my racing buddy Taz Harvey, who drove almost 6 hours in one stint for over 500 miles. The other cars were driven by Mazda USA employees. The cars could run over 4 hours between refueling. One of the other cars was co-driven by Angels pitcher CJ Wilson.

This Lexus IS-F sounded so good.

The slowest car in the race, but it finished.

This car is owned by a friend, co-driven by an other friend and the crew chief is Oscar Jackson. Oscar Jr also drove. Driving an open top car in below freezing weather takes a tough driver. It is based on a Miata with a Jacskon Racing supercharger. Last year they finished 3rd in class. This year was not as good. (More info)

The Global Motorsports Group (GMG) wrecked the car before qualifying. They worked tirelessly to rebuilt the car and started last. They finished 4th!

This superlight weight car (under 1200 lbs) was very fast and led early on. It later had problems. When it passed the Honda Fit, it was scary.

This Porsche was one of the fastest tin top cars. It had problems after I left.

This RX-3 was the oldest car in the race. Notice the size of the muffler in order to make sound. My very first racecar was a 1972 RX3-SP.

New technology and old school sharing the track.

This truck was fast. It ran in the top 15 (maybe lower) in the early part. In past years it has finished pretty high up.

Tony Colicchio, (my roll cage builder - TC Design) is a great driver (NASA Champion). This was a very well prepared and good looking car. It was fast (top 10) before it broke.

Factory 5 GTM racer is based on a Corvette C5. On lap three it caught fire. They worked for hours to get it back out to finish the race.

Honda CR-Z sent over from Japan.

Seat Leon

We are somewhere in the crowd.

My son and I reuniting with Randy Pobst. Sadly his car blew the engine before his driving stint.

Damn. That is a big difference as Im only at 2150-2200. I was reading RCEs swap and they are around 3500 with a 4.55 final. Maybe that is a viable option for me down the road

I think FI manual cars could actually take advantage of slightly taller gears with the 3.73 auto rear end ratio.

That was the general concensus in RCEs thread too in regards to fi mt cars. Now i just need to find an online configurator/calculator to compare the 4.3 as well.
