First I've heard that it's going to be heavier. Source?

Edmunds is reporting the GT is as heavy if not heavier.

Quote:
Its wheelbase is an identical 107.1 inches, its front track measurement is carried over and at 188.3 inches the overall length is essentially unchanged. The new car then goes its own way, sitting 1.4 inches lower and 1.5 inches wider. Compared to today's GT, front track increases by almost an inch, while the rear track expands by nearly 3 inches...

...Ford's lips are sealed regarding curb weight other than to point out that the new car has a lot more feature content than the old car, which is code for "It's heavier."...

Ford has an ecoboost 2.0 turbo that they claim will achieve the 300 hp mark.
No reason to doubt it..

I think despite the diet and shrinkage the engine placement, and high center of gravity will still not hold a candle to the stock 86 twins feel. Even if it blows us away at a light.
That's always been the difference between domestics and imports: handling. Domestics like to go in a straight line and sweeping curves. Imports generally can spin circles around domestics without much trouble. I'm speaking in generic terms here.

I bet the new Mustang still won't be able to handle worth a damn. Then again, I was never exposed to the true pony cars. I've only seen them as they are now: ungainly boats that can go straight really fast.

Disappointing. Not really surprising, though Car is still a bricktastic and bulky-looking heap, makes the S195 look like a low-slung and lightweight sports car in comparison.

More recent photos I've seen...I like the front and sides okay...the rear, horrible. But if the weight info is correct...that's a fail in my opinion.

It's Ford. What did you expect? For them to return to their roots?

See, I knew that lighter Mustang thing was complete bullshit. I like the C7 Corvette more anyway.

Keep on doubting they've already stated its 300+ HP. I know it's hard to accept but Ford engines for the most part have a good liter to HP ratio.

Forged Rods/Crank and a twin scroll turbo.

Also heavier than its predecessor. Claims of lighter cars are bullshit, apparently.
Toyota/Subaru: around 2600lbs - reality 2760lbs. Ford: around 200lbs less - reality a bit more than outgoing model. Corvette: lighter (don't recall number) - reality ~100lbs more than outgoing model.

The current-gen STI is a 4 cyl turbo making 305 hp.

The current-gen Evo is a 4 cyl turbo rated at 280 hp, but making about 300 hp.

Subaru said the WRX was going to be independent from the Impreza. It isn't they also stated it would be lighter which was a lie. Edmunds is crap. I'll wait till ford confirms the weight. If it isn't and increase It will still be the lightest out of the Big 3 sport cars.

Yeah...u got that right. I was thinking about the V type engine.

Evo can be tuned for more power, but stock form, MB has it best. If this Stang have a Bullet Proof engine like the Evo, they are gonna sell like hot cake
