Just wondering, In australia your main issue is Speed Cameras, Would a radar detector work if i mounted it somewhere low like under the dash near the passengers feet?

You can run an app on ur phone to find speed cameras that are located and put in a database. The radar detector mounted down near your feet would render it obsolete due to the fact that laser doesnt penetrate your car and radar would take forever to bounce down in the car to its sensors.

Is the phone app just as good or does it just give you a list where they are placed that day?

Most recent updates that users have put in. Most of the time they are pretty accurate. But its heavy user participation. Without people using the app and noting where police are sitting there is no use of having it. As far as red light cameras, those are permanent. Users who have the detector already have the database. I add new ones and that updates to their database so that other users can benefit from it. I like it, wish I had a mount for my Galaxy S3... but I don't like the "ONE MOUNT FITS ALL" mounts. I had the EVO 4G and it has a specific mount that went for it. Wish samsung would do the same.

Tapped into fuse box on the driver kick panel then tired up the A pillar and under the head liner.

I gave up on radar detectors and just got a good lawyer on retainer. He gets me out of tickets and I pay him about $700 a year. Not the best option maybe but its effective.

Wow... less than $500 gets you the best radar for years to come.

You have to be the unluckiest person to get caught with a detector. To have a cop point a speed gun specifically at you and only you when you drive by him is really tough luck.

As long as the cop is pointing it at least one car in front of you for about half a mile, you are alerted. I haven't been even close to getting caught in about 30K miles with my detector and it has saved me a LOT of times. That includes a trap they sometimes setup when I'm coming out of work where the cop actually uses a gun on/off on every car, but I'm always alerted before it is pointed directly at me.
