People link certain types of cars with certain types of looks. For them, a sports car is a BMW, an expensive supercar is a Ferrari and a normal car is a Toyota. They don't differentiate brands.

BMW has built their reputation on RWD coupes, you'd be hard pressed to find a major manufacturer that hasn't built something that doesn't resemble the 86.

Unless of course you choose to be incredibly narrow minded about it.

Today a co-worker thought my car was a fancy British import. I told him it was a Scion FRS. I got a blank stare and then told him a Toyota car.

Constantly get stares from people who drive Chrysler 300's, Lexus, and some SUV owners.

Stopped by my old job last week and a postal worker couldn't believe how beautiful and low the car was and my old co-workers immediately said "the 86 is here" once I pulled in.... they kindly opened the hood with the enthusiasm of a 10 year old boy opening a play boy mag for the first time.

Ha, I just had my first experience with this last night. Everyone at the drive-thru was coming up and trying to take a peek. The girl who handed me my food said, "we all really like your car, if you couldn't tell."

I've never really experienced that lol (used to drive a 2003 Jetta GL)

Me: "It is a lot cheaper to work on, I get the same level of excitement on curvy roads and without having to go 80 mph. Geeze, it was a 14yr old Carrera Cabriolet"

Them: "But a Porsche is a lot sexier!"

Me: "I'm married and my kids are adults, it's my freaking turn to play! Who cares about sexy!"

I've had my car for exactly 1 week and these have been my experiences:

1st night driving around after bringing it home. Just driving around getting a feel for the car, a white FR-S pulls up next to me with his buddy in the passenger seat, they both roll down windows "Nice! He said he'd trade me his BMW for mine. I laugh and tell him not a chance lol

4th day with the car, driving down a local highway and a Porsche GT2 with passenger fly by me, passenger looks and smiles at my car with his thumbs up.

5th day, s2000 tells me he's jealous of my car.

Same day, on campus, hot girl walking with her friends on campus as I'm cruising to work (I work on campus) she pushes her boobs together and blows me a kiss. I don't know this woman, but she wants the D, most likely in my car lol (at least that's what it seemed like she wanted haha)

I'd say my encounters with people have been positive.

I see a lot of people eyeballing it.

Seems about legit™.

people ask me if this is the new Tc. others just ask if its fast or expensive.


the best one is that one time a girl came to me saying that she liked my Porsche.. i didn't correct her... i just said thanks!
