I really wish I could afford to buy his company. I would buy it and have 50% of the profits go into his charity and 40% into helping young people learn the dangers of street racing.

New info from NY Post. Article states it was a likely a P/S failure at moderate speed.

Not sure if the GT was hydraulic or not for ps, but even without fluid the car would still be drivable. Virtually no difference at speed. Therefore the conclusion from the nypost is, IMO, not based on anything factual. Now fluid on the road causing a loss of traction starting a spin/slide I could see but the fluid woud have been there already most likely.

Ha Cool Guy

MT: Have you driven either of the Toyobaru twins?
PW: Yeah, they're cool. I'm excited to see what's going to come of that car. I mean really, that's the new Silvia when you think about it. As soon as we start making it faster, it'll really be worth paying attention to.

MT: Subaru swears even when they do an STI it won't be turbocharged.
PW: Isn't that a bummer?
MT: Well, they're still fun as is, but I wouldn't mind another 50 HP.
PW: What're you talking about? That car needs 500 horsepower.

Wasn't uncommon for him to be having beers with other drivers at the track after an event...

Yeah. Figured i would throw it out there. The speeds seemed too low based on the damage as well i would think

I guess this one was simply unfortunate in that respect... not that it would have done either occupant any good if there'd been a delay, as the impact was fatal.
here it is an interesting article about the fact that the fuel tank was behind the driver and passenger
http://oppositelock.jalopnik.com/deb...-po-1475054822
just some assumptions as it is written...

however i wonder at what speed you can mangle the Carrera GT around a pole...

Well, it is a lightweight vehicle, right? If so, it'll be easier to destroy at lower speeds given the right impact angles.

The Carrera GT's weight almost 150kg more than the twins, so it's not a "light" car in a sense when you compare it to a Lotus or Fiat 500.. Second the GT has a CF Monocoque so it's stronger than your average aluminum tube that your daily Ford Focus or GTi has in it so it can handle low impact speed significantly well, the problem lies in high speed impacts as Gen1 CF shatters under extreme loads rather than bends like traditional metals. It's why the current generation of hyper cars us Carbo-Titanium tubes or Aluminum threaded Carbon Carbon, which off the best of both worlds

Essentially for the car to be have hit the pole dead on in the middle of the passenger cell and tear the rear almost clean off and still knock down a light pole..... before skidding 100ft, points to every indication they were moving at some serious speeds

Great idea man! Huge fan of Blipshift and I really hope this comes to fruition! I emailed them as well (info@blipshift.co*) to support the idea. I referenced that a member of FT86club reached out to them. My stickers are enroute.

UPDATE: I'm sure they don't mind me posting this here.
