Can you update and upload ROM's the tablet BEFORE your first connection to the car to save the stock ROM?

IIRC, you can update it, but you can't upload anything until you've read your stock ROM first. That ensures that you only upload a ROM that matches the type of ECU you have.

Rombinhood@OpenFlash - can I request that the link to the Romraider download point to the downloads page on the forum, rather than a static file i.e. here: http://www.romraider.com/RomRaider/Download

The versions are updated regularly, and are uploaded to this page.

Will do... I've forwarded the request to Vishnu. They should make that change within the hour. A video tutorial for OFT users should come later today too.

Edit: Done!

I am having some problems with the tablet. Little bit of history: I read my ECU (i also used the options to rotate the display 180 degrees) and when I tried to download the .bin to my computer, the program (version 1.04) crashed stating that the OFT was not initialized. Meanwhile, the OFT went back to trying to calibrate the screen. At this time the screen was black with the serial number, HW rev, and FW rev on the OFT screen. I proceeded to calibrate the screen and started the OFT manager again, the OFT updated, and the software was able to read the "original.bin." I also uploaded the 1.34b to slot 1.

I went back to the car and plugged in the OFT into the ECU and I was greeted with the calibration screen again. I proceeded to calibrate the screen and the OFT interface came up. I tried to click on the tuning icon but the it looks like the information icon was being selected although I was pressing the opposite corner. I was greeted with the serial number of the OFT, HW version, FW version and could not click the back icon.

Several attempts to write to the ECU resulted in the same information screen that I could not back out of.

I disconnected from the OBD and reconnected to the laptop and I was again greeted with the calibration screen and the software crashing because the OFT was not initialized. I finished the calibration and decided to erase everything.

Now when I connect the OFT to the ECU for the initial read, I cannot press the tuning icon as before and only the information icon can be selected albeit from the opposite corner. I tried to click all over the screen and I get a sound that can only be describers as "denied!"

Is there anyway to reset the device back to factory setting because the screen is still 180 degrees rotated so I know that the device was not erased completely. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

When you plug it back into the vehicle (after disconnecting from laptop), do you see the calibration boxes? Or does it go right to the main menu?

The red FRS background blinks on the screen and then the "calibration boxes" routine.

Perfect. Just go through the calibration process. But make sure you do it with a stylus and not your finger. If you try to use your finger, the calibration process will not complete since it is too dull.

I was able to get through the calibration using a guitar pick but I cannot select the tuning icon. I will create a video right now so you can see what I mean.

I don't think you actually got through the calibration process successfully. Which is why you can't select the tuning icon. Try it again with a ballpoint pen (press gently so you don't scratch the screen). Just make sure you touch inside the box. Just trust me on this

Ok. I only get through 4 calibration boxes before the OFT interface comes up. I will try a pen instead.
