Get in car, drive to dealership, tell them to replace the pump, and hope they dont mess anything up. Lol jk but look on the "known issues" thread the tsb should be there with the instructions if I remember right.

Just get it done at the stealership. The inconvenience of having them do it is much better than you screwing something up (it could happen), and either losing the car to fire or then taking into the dealership and having them deny you warranty coverage because you didn't want to deal with them in the first place.

Agreed. It's a very high pressure pump... I wouldn't take the risk.

Better to take it to the dealership and have them possibly screw it up because at least it'll be covered if they do.

I apologize in advance, I had a few questions and theirs a LOT of replies here to sort thru so If they have already been answered, I apologize- I’m going this week to pick up my 2013 FRS with 6k on it- im trying to make sure that the dealer doesn’t give me any issues with the pump ect- is there specific numbers I need to look for? And should I outright ask them about replacement of the pump if there is an issue? Just to get it out into the air ahead of time? I’ve been in the situation where because im a female dealerships will bs me… my knowledge of cars is mainly older, American Carbureted cars..not imports, So any advice on this would be great!

Thanks in advance!

Be sure to listen carefully after test driving for a while. Once warmed up, the noise should be very apparent if it's happening. Ask them about the pump and tell them you know there's a Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) about it. My dealer last told me they wouldn't replace it again due to the noise, only if it fails to operate properly, so you might get a similar response. Either way, it doesn't hurt the car, it's just really annoying.

So the noise is it more along the line of the "subie tick" or hondas valve train noise ? things sound different in videos vs real life

I still have to wait a bit longer to be sure but this is the longest it's been without hearing crickets.
I'm curious to see what the success rate is with the new pump.

My car with production date in August 2013 (I think) with original fuel pump didn't start with crickets until after 2k miles. I only recently started hearing them, but they're very low so I'm not super worried about it at the moment.

It literally sounds like a cricket making one continuous, uninterrupted chirp. No breaks in the chirping unless you get above a certain RPM.

Seconded.

In case anyone is following my pump issues, it turns out that there was an o-ring that was either installed improperly or defective on the replacement pump and a broken fuel injector. Needless to say, I'm plenty pissed at the original dealership that did the work and told me to go home with a fuel leak after they "checked" it. The dealer installed scratches was just icing on the cake.

It's a very distinct, high-pitched cricket chirp. You can get up close to the engine and hear the DI system (sounds more like valvetrain ticking), but the chirping stands out from that.
