Best exhaust?

Hey everyone I just signed up to this forum but I also am just about to order an 86. Right now I'm thinking of a cobra sport cat back from England. Will the exhaust fit the car here if I bring it over? Also, here's my mod list: (btw I want the exhaust to be kinda loud so has anyone got any suggestions?)

Toyota 86: black

1. Lights: Toms tail lights. - $415

2. Exhaust: Cobra catback (non resonated) [ame]http://youtu.be/FyljbHml0pE[/ame] -$1000

3. Wheels: WORK, Emotion CR KAI Kiwami Ultimate (Matte Black) 18" -$2500

4. Carbon: carbon fibre dash inserts -$150

5. Apexi Panel filter -$70

6. Eibach sports line springs (2 - 2.5") -$330

10. Plasti dip front lip and badges (Matte black) - $190

11. LED head lights -$20

TOTAL = $4675

It will fit but that is a pretty rude exhaust noise wise. Do they do a resonated exhaust?

I mean that it is pretty loud and obnoxious. It means it will be an instant cop magnet. They hear loud car swell before they see them. Especially if you are exploring the limits.

There's a couple of guys in Sydney who've been given EPA notices for noise with unresonated exhausts, and the fine is $500 on the spot so you'd best be careful if it exceeds the threshold (see http://www.epa.nsw.gov.au/noise/motorvehiclenoise.htm for details)

Curious about what you've noted about LED headlights for $20 - you're getting a GTS so you have the LED DRLs already?

No issues with that at all. Cat Back systems are the same worldwide. It's only when you start looking at overpipes do you need to be concious about whether it has been manufactured for RHD or LHD models.

This is the one yes?
http://www.cobrasport.com/exhaust/Toyota/GT86/32/0/0

Keep in mind that £550 converts to roughly $990AUD, then international shipping will set you back another few hundred more than likely. You can get a decent catback system (Invidia Q300, Perrin etc..) for less than that and will provide similar results in noise.

The system in the video you link isn't just the cat-back system. The owner/poster has deleted the secondary cat in the front pipe, which is another $300 from those guys for the cat delete front pipe.

And to add to this, if you get a notice from the EPA and your emissions are tested with any of the cat removed, the fine is up to $20k - so it's really not worth the risk.

Those are easy swap...unless u got pulled over, and the cops mirrored under the car to look for Cat....

But that is the reason why they have Test-pipe, which mimics the Catback look, and gutless inside

Personally . . . . I wouldn't want it to be too boomy & definitely no drone at the constant speeds you normally do, ie: 60, 80, 100kms. The website warns of cabin drone if unresonated, do your research & ask others who have used it what they think.

Make sure it's legal for your state as far as noise is concerned otherwise you may get pinged. I've got a Perrin unresonated cb which is a tad quieter than that clip & it just passes EPA for sound. I wouldn't be deleting any cats either. Just my opinion of course, you & anyone can do as they please until you get caught, if ever.

If you are going to be driving the car as a daily, you don't want it too loud, it gets pretty old pretty quick when you are commuting or doing long drives.

But if you get reported to the EPA, say because of the sound, they'll check the sound and the emissions, and for a road-going car that's illegal.

It's dumb and bad for the environment, and if you're doing it just for the sound of the car you're a ****, but that's just my opinion. If you want to risk a $20k fine, go right ahead.

Buy an Apexi N-1 if you want loud. But not obnoxious, and it comes with silencers. Also, use the search feature incorporated in the forum. This subject has been covered multiple times.
