You're right I just saw this on Jalopnik too. Weird it seems conflicting but the car has been at AE meets so it makes sense that it was him.

no one is doubting that the accident happened, or that the car is real. Whether Paul Walker was in the car is the hoax/not hoax. Similar facebook celebrity hoax have happened and included real life events like this.

Yes, thats exactly what I was saying. Thats the key piece of evidence, not the fact that the car is real, but the association with AE.
