I stand by my concern, though. Properly fitted tires on 9 inch rims are too large for this car. I have real issues with function taking a back seat to style when it comes to choosing rim/tire combinations. I have never understood the logic of stretching a narrow tire over a rim that is too wide for it. It just seems like it's begging for trouble.

I was told by evasivmotor and ravspec that these cars on 18x8. front 18x9.5 would fit on stock suspension and an inch drop. even with 255 rear and 225 front.? just wondering. Te37SL was the specific wheel. Jive turkey have it set up square 18x9.5 all around with camber and a drop. apparently its working out well for him on the track.

Don't those cars also have what might be termed "significant other mods"?

"stock suspension" so I guess what I am saying here is. it would fit. and my question for you is how fitting a wider tire or wheel would be bad except for the weight. I thought this car oversteer to easily, so on a track, one may find it hard to get on gas early without a "significant amount of traction on stock power"?

The car, as designed, supposedly is remarkably well balanced between power and traction. I've never taken it to a track so I cannot speak from personal experience with this vehicle, but I've owned other light, moderately powerful vehicles before and when you take a car that is designed to be thrown around and dramatically change its traction levels, you can screw it up. It's a really bizarre sounding concept, but you can actually have too much traction. In effect, you can make it a gokart that is easy for most people to drive faster than stock, but take away what makes it possible for a truly skilled driver to wring extraordinary things from it.
Sure, signifacantly wider tires will fit, but as has been observed, "just because you can do a thing, it does not follow that you should do a thing."

And just because a tire is wider doesn't mean it will be stickier... at stockish power levels some good drivers are having a hard time getting enough heat into anything wider than 225's to get good grip.
