Did you ask for that or is that how they are configuring it by default?

Let's clear up some confusion here. Our FRS turbo system comes configure with an Vent to atmoshphere BOV (Blow off valve) and it also is configured with a Recirculated WG (Wastegate). It's two different components. When you're on boost and let off the throttle you will hear the swish sound (That's the BOV). When you hit full boost, the WG will open and dump the exhaust gas through the recirculated WG dumptube back into the Downpipe--too keep the exhaust noise bearable. I believe the confusion here is the BOV vs the WG. A WG configured with a DTA (Dump to Atmosphere) dumptube vs a WG with a recirculated dumptube makes a completely different sound when you hit full boost. We went to great length to keep the exhaust sound on the Turbo kit along with our Turbo back exhaust system as quiet and bearable as possible. Going to a DTA WG setup is going to be "LOUD". With a DTA WG setup, when you hit full boost, it's going to sound like a MAC truck, which is probably not what you want to hear everytime you step on the gas. With that said, our system can be configured with a DTA WG setup if you really want to attract attention everytime you step on the gas. We'll offer that as an option in a few weeks if you really want it loud. Keep in mind it's easy to make the exhaust loud, it's much more difficult to keep it quiet. For me, I want the power, I don't need the noise, but to each his own ![]() MrC |

Atmospheric WG dump is only fun in tunnels, everywhere else it's annoying.

This is with 93 octane. No Meth. 9psi.
Changes to my Car with the turbo kit: DW65c Fuel Pump, Exedy Stage 1 Clutch Kit, DW700cc Injectors, Perrin engine mounts, Perrin Crank pulley, Ptuning 3” turbo exhaust Made a 3 hour trip yesterday in my car and about to do another 8 hour trip in it tomorrow to see family. My opinion so far is that this kit has dropped the balls in my car. It no longer has the longing for that extra power. The car itself sounds amazing besides the engine mounts. The solid mounts are taking a bit to get use to since they rattle but besides that I would recommend having a decent set of tires. Was planning on using stock tires for the winter but they cant hold the torque at all. The car wants to go sideways when ever you get on her at all. Ill write a bit more once i get back from my trip but this is my initial thoughts. Last edited by Dinko; 11-28-2013 at 04:10 PM. |

Looks like the torque curve is smoothed out a bit from the initial post in the thread, just the slight bump in torque at 4400RPM.
200lb-ft at 3300 RPM who needs a PD supercharger. ![]() Would love to see what people get running E85 at 10-12 PSI. |

Yea mine pulled 308whp / 258tq @9psi. Although I'm actually having an issue when under hard acceleration. Seems boost cuts out for a second and it jerks the car at 5k rpms. Very strange. I'm sad because today was the only day where the weather has been nice enough to give the car a test.

Thats Normal Boost Cutoff Will have to mess with that a little to adjust it, its safety so no overboosting. Also I am at 9psi no Pump running 93!

Just curious, the Ptuning dyno testing was done at 6psi, and yours is at 9psi. Is 9psi too much stress on the OEM mechanics or is that moderate?

What engine mounts? Group N I've heard don't increase NVH but apparently Cusco, Megan and Perrin do? Just wanting to know more so I can make educated decision on what to get when I go FI as I absolutely hate too much for vibes and noise. Thank you

Many thanks to Mr. C!
Turns out due to the cold temps, overboost protection was kicking in. Turned two clicks counterclockwise on the boost controller and it solved that issue. Car is amazing now! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Just wondering what your sense is on why 6 psi = 297 whp and then 9 psi = 308 and 315 whp. If the kit is really at a timing advance wall at ~300 whp is it worth it to go 3 more psi for marginal gains? Is it because the 6 psi is tuned more aggressively while kayhettin and yours is tuned very conservatively which would explain why there isn't a bigger difference? |
