Snowed last night, snowed most of today, and will probably snow tonight. Luckily none of it is sticking to the roads, cause guess where my snow tires are.

I hope they're learning, though.
That's more or less an issue with most cars in America today. They're always tuned softer for American cities and their crappy roads and general lack of maintenance. For example, Ford has been using almost the exact same suspension designs as Mazda for years. The biggest difference is that the more mainstream Fords are always softer than their Mazda equivalent. A DD need to be compliant enough for that kind of driving.

Upgrading the suspension isn't that big of a deal to me but there is a big difference between the handling of a tarted up Veloster and say a stock BRZ. Hyundai is releasing a R-spec but it's still rather mild.
Surprisingly enough the Veloster actually has a decent exhaust note when the muffler is removed.

It does drone from 2500-3000RPMs but past that it sounds great, IMHO. Just debating whether it's worth it to test drive and compare.

Nope. I would. I mean, I did it when I was a kid, but looking back on it, I was an idiot. I remember one time some guy in a work van actually stopped and yelled at me. I thought it was particularly funny because the van looked like shit, and the guy was worried about getting ANOTHER dent in it...

A few issues with the Veloster. There was no real need to make it comfortable since they have other cars like the Accent (Elantra?) for the more mainstream buyers. So they had more leeway with specializing it as a true niche vehicle. Just like the CRX and Civic. Instead of a cheap, fantastic handling commuter like the CRX, they ended up just playing expensive option dress-up (glass roof, 3rd door) with whichever cheap model it shares the platform with.

Which leads to a fundamental issue with the handling, the torsion beam. Modifications can only take geometry so far. The torsion beam is the solid rear axle of fwd cars. And Hyundai has shown than even when they use highly sophisticated geometry they can't get it right (GenCoupe's front virtual steer center struts and rear multi link, insufficient travel). Too much work.

So I don't have high hopes for the 'sporty' Veloster.

I'm not against disciplinary hitting.

I'm more towards "An eye for an eye. A fist for a fist" kinda guy. I would throw a snow ball at their face. Example: If my dog bite my hand so hard that it start to bleed, I bite em so hard it'll start to bleed. I would not stop even how much they try. Ever since then, my dog bite, but not hard enough that it'll bleed. lol
