The 'must be willing to ship' is not something I'm fond of. I've bought on NASIOC only in person with my local chapter. I can inspect the part in person, meet the people and make a judgement call on them and then make my decisions. There is far less chance of fraud or misunderstandings or anything else that can cause drama. Seller can be the one getting ripped of on shipped items too.

Local/in person is a valid option.

Must be willing to ship doesn't FORCE you to ship the item, it simply doesn't prevent people from outside your area from buying it. IMO If you are using the services provided by this website (including it's bandwidth) you should be willing to sell to whoever wants to buy the item, local or not.

No, but REQUIRING to ship to anybody does. If I only want to sell locally, and not ship, I should be able to.

You aren't REQUIRED to ship it, just to be WILLING to ship it if a buyer from out of the area wants to buy it. It's really not that hard to box an item up and go down to FedEx or UPS. If you find a local buyer, great!

That's fine. It's not a rule here anyways but remember it's not your RIGHT to sell stuff on here anyways so you will have to follow the rules or not sell stuff.

On the forum I run that caters to a specific vehicle we enforce that rule because it's in the best interest of the community and in our opinion the community outweighs the individual.

im gonna predict that the Must-ask-a-mod-to-post rule wont last long. You guys are gonna get swamped and bored of the pms. you're time would be better served simply monitoring the posts and deleting as necessary.

Ditto... as long as they post the selling item pics w their SN next to the item, I don't think getting permission from us isn't necessary

Maybe I'm looking at it from a different angle? Everything car related I've sold has been basically at a loss. I'm just not interested in dealing with potential hassles of shipped product disputes. If I give a very fair price, go through the trouble describing and photographing the item. Then packaging and shipping it and dealing with financial transactions. Then end up with a dispute over the end product (shipping damage, didn't meet buyers expectations, buyer is a ****, whatever...) it is not worth my time to sell these things. And that is a loss to the community, even if it only benefits a small local minority in my hypothetical example. I've dealt with a ton of BS in the past, even local, without having the extra issue of remote buyer/sellers. Also being Canadian, and most everyone else being in the US there are legal complications as well (brokerage crap...).

If I were in it for money, not shipping would be not exactly the smartest business model.

At the very least we could divide sections into National (must be willing to ship) and Local/Regional (optional).

I disagree with the pic next to the item requirement and placing both first and last name. Also, i have shipped an item and recieved shipped items and it is a hassle. So stating whether you are willing to ship or not should be required.
