With the tailights are the JDM taillights compatible with USDM FRS? And vice versa, are USDM tails compatible with with RHD versions?

They should be. Headlights have a difference in the way they direct light for LHD vs RHD. Taillights don't do anything special though. As for fitting them on the car, there should be no issues.

I think I'm going to give this conversion a shot (non10series) and make some jdm/brz fr-s 86 hybrid.
Great list, will be a fantastic guide. Last edited by blanco; 08-11-2013 at 02:58 AM. |

You also see the airbag every time you drive the car, at least it's external cover. You also touch it every time you go for the horn.

10-series to 86 conversion
Hi there, I have a 10-series and there's A LOT of stuff the 10-series has that, in my opinion are either the same or better than the Toyota 86.
First off, there's the paint. Until you've actually seen the Silver Ignition paint in several different scenario's, it's hard to understand why it's better. In direct sunlight it's got a Silver Metallic sheen, in overcast conditions its more of a solid grey, at night when light hits the paint it turns bluish, and during the day sometimes it looks periwinkle. So that's the first thing. Besides that there's the uniqueness and the light up badges (front and rear). I do get a lot of comments on them as they are pretty cool. There's also the frameless mirror (which only comes on the 86 and the 10-series), the headlights (the 10 series has 86 headlights), the trunk mat is different, it comes with the navigation and the HVAC controls of the 86, and the badge on the driver door indicating only 2500 were made. I know there's more stuff but I don't feel like listing it all. I've actually made up my mind that I'm just going to borrow a few things from the 86 because I don't want to take anything away from the 10-series. Thus far I've added some red accents to the car (shoulder pads), red drift knob, short shifter, TRD wide black leather, different bushings, etc. I even bought a blue JDM BRZ engine cover. It doesn't match the red theme I've been going for but it was way too cool to pass up. ($65 on eBay + $13 shipping from Japan). To each their own, but I'm more-the-less just using the 86 as an inspiration, but not too literally. I was considering getting some red/black door sills and possibly getting a TRD red push start button but I'm having trouble rationalizing performing that upgrade.......oh yeah, the alcantara interior parts are pretty tempting too. I might start with just the shift boot and e-brake boot and see how I like it.
