I love Forza....I love the new Kinect....Fighter Within is a very good game, even though you can control the character with simple moves...It is the beginning of a whole new Sport!!!

Alright this thread wore on me and I'm now thinking of purchasing one of the two mentioned. I presently have a WII and it's so old I've given up plus it's not quite that much fun playing games that you need a regular controller.
I will be reading this thread with more intent and researching the games like GT6, Madden, and a "B"ball game. Thanks for spurring my interest

Then the Wii came out, I was very disappointed as their display sucked. I bought them, tried at home, it was so easy to trick the controller from a "fast + Heavy golf swing" into a "Feather Quick Flick Swing" If you know what I meant. It is totally 90% Not Accurate. Then Play Station 3...Mezh, nothing better than PS2, only better display, same old gaming ways. I bought it, played 2 games on it, it sat and colect dust, until now. I tried PS Moves....it sucks. I then tried Kinect from my friend, some what impressive at least. But nothing too impressive. Now Kinect 2.0!! Wow, what an Imersive feeling with the games. The kinect can even tell if you are putting Forces into your muscles......your heart rate. This is the beginning. Kinect games will develop into different category, such as "Insane Kinect Moves" to "Kinect moves" Now!! That is revolutionary. Your movements in a dark room, how honest your movements are, which will control the game. Bye Bye, Thumb slamming, Body leaning, sore fingers, sitting on the couch eating pizza, Obese...Problems. Finally, a Video Game system that can let you Entertain, and get Fits (Non Fake Movements) at the same time. Thank you Microsoft. Xbox One is the first X-Box I have ever bought, and I love it. I Cant wait until more Kinect Intense movements required to come out. For the first time ever, "Hard Mode" really mean "Hard" as a possibility |

Meh. I'll work out if I want to work out. I'll play a game if I want to play a game. Or I'll play a workout game if I want to do both. Most of the time if I'm gaming, I don't feel like working out.
The problem here is that you seem to be lumping all gamers into the fat, obese, unhealthy stereotype. It's not. I owned the original Kinect. Body movement-based games are a novel idea but don't have staying power for me. And if a gaming console required intense physical activity for use, it'd likely be an extremely niche market or fail altogether. |

What? Other fitness games exist on the Wii and Playstation platforms as well. So no, it's not only possible on the Xbox one. Nintendo was the one that started the whole motion gaming thing up again, really.

![]() ![]() (Phone cameras seem to make the IR blasters on the Kinect GLOWWW) So my Day One Edition X1 came in yesterday. Was about 15 minutes from plug in to functioning dashboard. That included initial boot, typing wifi password, downloading and installing 500mb patch, restarting, calibrating kinect, singing in and syncing XBL account, and restarting one more time. Unfortunately there was a payment mixup with my Forza 5 order on Amazon (silly mistake on my part) so neither that nor Dead Rising 3 have arrived yet. But they are on a mail truck and should be here this afternoon. First impressions are the interface is smooth and simple. It takes a little getting used to the little quirks and differences (as well as taking me a good couple of minutes to realize I need to push the Menu button to access system settings). Everything is quick and snappy. The Home button no longer brings up a separate menu, but brings you back home with your game/app/tv/whatever in the center window. It will remain active and paused until you return to it or quit it. Kinect motion control is... better but still not fantastic. What I am much more impressed with is the voice command control. Very similar to Motorola's push on google voice control found in my Droid Maxx (and Moto X, Ultra, and Mini). There's not as much natueral language as Motorola's voice actions and you need to say particular phrases, but it's pretty good. The only hard part now is remembering to say "XBOX" instead of "OK Google Now." Logging in with Kinect is also pretty neat. When it sees my face, it automatically logs me in. If multiple people are seen (and each one has an account), it will prompt which to choose. Currently mine is the only one, so as soon as it sees me it logs into my account, says "Hi Matt" and loads all my presets. The controller is not quite as I remember it from Comic Con. It's still very natural and fantastic, but feels like a slightly wider stance. I would prefer the hand orientation be a bit more vertical (like a Dreamcast controller), but once in a game, its not noticeable. What IS noticeable is the extended triggers. It will be something I'll have to get used to, especially in Call of Duty. Since they extend laterally, if I rest my fingers on the frame they may slightly press in the side of the trigger, accidentally firing or aiming down sights. Kind of annoying to be honest. Will have to change my holding stance slightly. Still not as bad as DS4 and lightyears ahead of DS3. Ideally, I would have copied spec for spec the 360 controller. That thing was a dream. Skype is very, very cool with a Kinect. Was on a skype call with a friend of mine who also got his X1 and it was cool seeing the smart zoom and tracking available in the kinect. It seems like you can play games and still voice call through skype, but video chat during games isn't possible (yet?) as far as I've been able to figure out. NFL app is nice with good recaps, videos, highlights, commentary, and customization for your favorite teams. Have not tried cable integration yet; too busy with CoD. Only game I have at the moment is CoD Ghosts. Game looks great and plays super smooth. But I definitely did forget how much it sucks to be stuck with limited perks/weapons/attachments at the beginning of the game. Also their methods of unlocks through multiple characters instead of the old Prestige system is dumb, IMO. Nothing unlocks for you and everything must be bought with squad points. Makes progression slow and frustrating and nothing transfers between any of the characters, and your pool of squad points (which are slow to earn) have to be used over and over for the same items in another character. So you need to keep earning them to unlock things you already have if you want to use another character. Another small thing I don't like is there's no connection indicator (that I could find) that shows your connection speed in a game (the red dot/yellow bars/green bars). I noticed some heavy lag in a few games, but no way to tell if it was me or the host. All in all, I'm pleased with it. If anything, the most disappointing thing was CoD. I'm sure once I have more time in it and get my perks and weapons how I like them, I will love it. I've been spoiled with 2 years of 3rd Prestige lvl80 and everything unlocked at my disposal. Very much looking forward to FM5 and DR2 today.
