Vent Window

Has anyone ever tried to make the small front glass windows into a vent window? They are great in the summer but I assume auto manufactures don't make them anymore for a reason. I thought that would be cool to have something like that

Manufacturers deleted these when proper ventilation systems were installed.

No more fender vents either.

The round vents at the ends of the dash replace the vent windows.

Huge theft weak point.

Noisy.

Vent windows don't actually work.

Impossible to do without a full door frame.

I could go on.

I'm surprised that when saying noisy that you didn't specify the whistle they make as you roll down the road.

I agree that instalation wouldn't have been possible because of our frameless windows. But I gotta ask, what cars were all you guys driving? The last wing windows that I had were dead silent...either that or I wasn't aware because of all the other mechanical clatter going on... :-)

1979 F-350 custom... However, I will admit that the huge side mirrors probably helped make them even louder than they were. We didn't call them wing windows either... They were called "Air Conditioning" lol

In the days when only the wealthy could afford to drive a car with a/c, vent windows served a good purpose because they could be cranked all the way which would direct an air flow on the driver or the passenger if you had one. They were also convenient for tossing out cigarette butts. With todays car having a/c they are no longer needed.

My old Jeep had vent windows, they weren't loud but then again the vehicle wasn't exactly quiet. I miss the vent windows though, they were great for those in between times when the defrost isn't quick enough to clear the windshield.

It'd look tacky as hell on our cars, too.
