1979 F-350 Custom... What to do?

Hey all,

Taking a shot in the dark to see if anyone could provide any useful information on how to go about selling an older truck.

Basically my grandfather purchased a brand new sea foam green 1979 Ford F-350 custom 1-ton duelly and used it as a farm truck. Over the years it was modified to have a dump added to the steel bed.

After my grandfather's passing my father now has the truck and it is sitting in his barn literally becoming a barn find. I say this because besides the bed, the thing is all original and only has 30,000 miles. The interior is rough from being farm use; however, to me this thing is a possible rare collectors item of sorts since that can be restored...
If it were a regular bed I'd be all over trying to keep and use it but I'm not that lucky!

So what are the thoughts here from other forum members? Is this something special with that low of original miles? Or am I silly thinking this truck could be something someone would care to buy and restore? What would you do if you had it?

Thanks, and sorry I don't have any pics! If you Google image it you'll get an idea of what it looks like. Don't expect much; bit consider the mileage and ability to be a one of a kind antique!

I'd check with Mecum Auto Auctions to see what they place the value at

They keep track of the prices of every vehicle sold and have a value calculator

I'd keep that and drop a cummins in it and use it as a work/daily truck tbh. but if I was back home in the states I would be all over that. probably wouldn't take much to get that shipped to texas either lol

LOL, this was more of a family community truck for the farm. Even use between grandfather, father and myself. It does hold extra value to me as it was the first "car" I drove. The granny gears made learning to drive a stick (along with the tractors) a breeze.

The reason for wanting to sale? Its literally just sitting there, and I don't want it to sit and rot when it is in working condition and entering the "classic" stage. I'd really like to see it restored and maybe modified to be something even cooler... I'm not sure what options exist for the custom's but I'm sure that there are a slew of things people could put on for the bed...

If I was in your shoes, I would get it running and fix up whatever you can over time. Unless it becomes a pain for you to deal with and takes up space you need, idk I wouldn't want to get rid of it.

I was sad when we had to sell my late grandma's Buick Park Avenue and that is by no means a classic

You'd be able to sell it pretty quickly I'm sure. Those old dentside Ford trucks have a pretty good following, and the low miles would surely attract someone. Did your grandfather keep the stock bed laying around somewhere?
