Rumors are that it will be the EJ257. I was hoping they would release the EJ207 in the US for the hardcore enthusiasts.

Also, the headlamps are LED low beam.

The WRX will get the new FA20DIT. Looking at the leaked 2015 WRX and STi order sheet confirms the STi is still a 2.5. Usually SoJ will debut a model with a variant of the new engine, but I haven't been able to find a FA25DIT. The video below was leaked and shows the newest chassis what looks to be an EJ motor. If they released the EJ207 found on the GR R205(has thicker cylinder walls) with revised gearing, twin scroll low mount turbo, and EPS I would be sold.

It's unknown at this time. I'm hoping the STI will get a FA25DIT turbo, not a fa20 turbo, and keep the traditional rod linkage 6spd.

I feel meh about the whole thing. I think I actually prefer the previous hatchback model. Hate that they only offer a sedan now..

The old whine "same performance figures" is getting old. Subaru doesn't have to make an entrance any more, no reason to bump the specs w/o market pressure. I'm happy they haven't axed the STI at all.
All those CLA/A3s at the same price point are vastly underpowered.
The CLA's 2.0 makes 258 lb-ft of torque at 1250 rpm, better than the WRX. If that's vastly underpowered what does that make the WRX?

A faster car, lol? If you want mad torque down low - get a diesel.

And the CVT transmission sounds awful. Something tells me like 70-80% of these cars will be produced with the 6 speed manual due to demand.

And the interior does like better than the previous model. And I will say that as bland as I find this to be, Subaru has been on a role lately and I expect this will be a big hit.

The new HT-CVT will do 90% of the duty a DCT is capable of.

Per Autoblog the CVT is not only .5 seconds slower, but it also gets worse fuel economy than the 6 speed manual?

WTH???

It's heavier. That said, CVT also gets better AWD system. I really liked the HT CVT in Forester XT, two heads above regular CVTs in all other cars I've tried. Goes to peak power quickly, when floored. For anything other than track/autox, CVT WRX will be a better/quicker car.
If I was buying one, I'd take the CVT over a cable-actuated feel-less MT.
