I hit the fuel cut off and lurched forward in my seat.

I love this car so much.

It's supposed to be highly scratch resistant - but I don't think it's going to prevent rock chips, not like a clear bra would anyway.

It will protect against chemical etching, and the finish makes the car look like it was waxed by essentially adding an additional clear coat that chemically bonds with the factory clear coat and paint (after it has been detailed and had all marring and impurities removed).

It will cause water and rain to bead just like a wax does - except that it will continue to do this years later without actually being waxed, and it your car will look just as good years later after a wash as it did the day the opti-coating was applied.

Although it is expensive I got it because the protection was worth it to me; I care a lot about my car's appearance, and I live in a place that gets a lot of rain and there is a lot of crud on the roads - to each their own.

My FR-S is my daily driver, so while getting the opti-coat done meant putting off a few mods that I wanted, I'm glad that I got it done - and I know that I won't regret it down the road after driving my car for a few months/years; it already gives me peace of mind when I'm driving in the rain, or have small debris hitting my car.

If it's something you're considering then I would definitely encourage you to at least look into it, and do a bit of research - I'm not an expert on it and I'm a bit obsessive about protecting my car, so take that with a grain of salt if you wish

Used it to smack down a 4th Gen Integra that wouldn't go away.

The opti-coating essentially creates a second clear coating - so that would provide some additional protection in terms of anything getting down to your paint, albeit a small one.

I'm only passing on information that the detailer himself told me, and in my opinion Tom is simply the best at what he does. Opti-coating isn't something that you have done to ward against scratches - it simply provides some scratch resistance which is an added benefit to all of the other reason you'd want to opti-coat your car for.

Cool

purchased some MB Vector Rims for my FR-S that should be in by Friday. I can't wait to get them mounted. I'm going to use my stock Tires for now since I only have 244 miles on them so far. I know there probably not the lightest Rim out but sure nice enough for my purposes. And I had to get those stock Rims off of there since every New FR-S that you see has them on them.
One down.
Next week I will get my Brush Aluminum Accent inlay and the Console Armrest, Fossy Shift Knob, and the Toyota Rain Deflectors. And I'll be done for this year.
I hope to see the TRD Turbo released but I'm not going to hold my breath on that one.

I have to agree with you it sure will add a nice layer of protection against anything damaging your paint.
The other day I went off to get the windows tinted and happened to notice that already within the couple of hundred miles something has already popped up and hit my lower Bumper no chip but was sure stuck on there. And if that Bonded material was there it would have been easier to get off than what it was. I don't want to wait until something does damage it and you can't prevent that type of debris from doing that so an once of prevention is sure worth a pounding.
Well worth investment. High performance Mod for your Paint/Body

That's awesome!

Do you use one of those SNES emulators, or a real SNES... I still have my SNES connected to the TV

Now when you are on a road trip you and your (wife, partner, whatever) can take turns driving and playing games.

That is choice, uses the backup cam port? or something different?
