Have seen a few dealers offer this.

Usually it's in conjunction with requiring all services be done at the dealer offering the warranty. I've even seen a tire rotation requirement attached to the warranty fine print.

Being what's essentially a 3rd party warranty it isn't exactly in moss magnusson territory.

When you do the math on how long people hold onto cars vs that extra service $ clearly the profit works out.

As long as service is kept up with it, it doesn't matter if I take it to Toyota or not. at least that's what I was told. been a wh ile since I read the fine print If something went out , I pay a 100$ deductible and they thro in what it needs

Sort of related but probably off-topicish question: my local toyota dealer has the airbox in stock for $425 or I can get it off ebay for $359, it will be a couple monthes (presumably) before I can install so time to receive isn't an issue. Is there ANY reason I should consider buying it from the dealer over ordering via ebay? I'd be doing the install myself.

MAGNUSON MOSS
WARRANTY ACT
US Code - Title 15, Chapter 50, Sections 2301-2312
Legally, a vehicle manufacturer cannot void the warranty on a vehicle due to an aftermarket part unless they can prove that the aftermarket part caused or contributed to the failure in the vehicle (per the Magnuson Moss Warranty Act (15 U.S.C. 2302(C)) . For best results, consider working with performance-oriented dealerships with a proven history of working with customers. If your vehicle manufacturer fails to honor emission/warranty claims, contact EPA at (202) 260-2080 or www.epa.gov. If federal warranty protection is denied, contact the FTC at (202) 326-3128 or www.ftc.gov.

The lifetime power train warranties offered by dealers are not by manufacturer.
They are in addition to any manufacturer warranty.

I have one with the TRD exhaust and went that route for the same reason the OP mentioned, warranty. I know the after market intake won't void the warranty, but if something goes wrong with the engine, I don't want Toyota to have an "out".
