@Wise bummer USA didn't get that car. We really enjoyed the S14 (bestwheelbase.com if you want to see what an unmolested one looks like these days)
I enjoy the S2000 but the cabin is too cramped for me. But there's no denying their beauty and fun factor. |

Same as bestwheelbase. The s2000 is too small inside. I cannot fit and my 6'5" 275LB son would wear an s2000 like one shoe. I fit in my MR-S great and we both fit in his FR-S great.

No reason..... *IF* you can find one that hasn't been abused for a reasonable price, go for it.... just like buying a used 240SX, RX-7, Supra, Evo, etc...
Of course, if you don't want to spend several years scouring the ends of the earth for a car you'd be too scared to actually drive once you actually found it, an 86 might make an acceptable compromise |

That is darn sexy . Might I add/ask, why don't people also consider the lexus sc 300. I ask because it sort of reminds me of the silvia in terms of looks and obviously its got a great engine

Don't like convertibles.
Not as practical. If I didn't like the RX8 or Abarth and decided to limit myself to cars built in the last ten years I would be looking at S2000 or Miata, so that was kind of my top five after I ruled out the Mustang and as such all the other muscle cars. Edit: @1086 Jesus those Lexus are 3500 lbs and up, why not go for a Mustang 350/370Z. The S2000 is 1000+ lbs lighter, can't imagine them being compared for very long. |

I owned a s2000. Amazing car, more "pure" than the FR-S. S2000's have double wishbone front suspension + 9000k redline. Also, no tcs for the year I had. Anyway, as a track car, there is no better for the money in my opinion. The sound of 8700rpm vtec is pure sex to my ears. 96db stock vs. 88db stock for FR-S.
The FR-S gets better mpg, has a back seat, and is newer looking. But not as fast. It's not a direct comparison. |

Primarily because the sc300/is300's engine, it is a 2 door coupe or 4 door depending, pretty nice interior, rwd, and I like the simplicity of its exterior. It is heavy I agree, but unfortunately I don't care much for the looks of the 350/370/mustang. I'd rather be in the sc300 or the is300. Also, a lot of old people drive the sc300. At least I see a lot of older people. I can't imagine 60+ year olds are modifying these cars, which leaves some great buys to look for.

I have both the S2000CR and BRZ Limited. Both are equally fun and they both have their own pluses and minuses. However, everytime I get behind wheel of the BRZ... and i mean EVERYTIME, i wished it had similar HP. S2k engine sounds so sweet and it pulls and pulls on every gear to redline.

Very rare indeed... MUCH rarer than FR-S/BRZ engines eating themselves under normal track usage. No reason to eschew the S2000 unless you need +2 practicality or don't want to deal with single-layer convertible top noise issues (quite fatiguing on longish trips). S2000 is by far my favoritist modern sports car. When the 86s get their DI and tuning issues sorted, I might replace mine with one. FWIW, I'm at 162k miles, 25 hard track days on the original clutch and trans on my '01. wheee! |

I am one of those who answered S2000. Reason why I didn't buy one is because I've had one in the past... and I still miss it.

If there was an S2000 coupe, I'd be in one right now. But convertibles are a PIA for track days, so it's a no-go for me.
