Reason not to buy a Used S2000

Hello guys. I have seen other Thread "If FT86 doesn't exist, what would you have bought"

I have seen many people answered with "S2000"

So my question is

Why did you not buy the S2000 ? Considering it is Cheaper ?

I would have bought another S15 200SX/Silvia.

Can find a used example for around 10-20k. Problem is most of them have been molested by boy racers and have ugly bodykits and aftermarket taillights now. Either that or they've been running for 50,000 k's on higher boost levels on the stock turbo.

Great car, but finding a good example is really hard.

Difficult to find a safe s2k buy in my opinion. Plus I wanted something I had ownership of right off the bat and I wanted something only I revved the crap out of. Buying a used s2k is a bit risky - hence,

Wouldn't bringing it to a trusted mechanic before putting down cash ascertain whether or not the car had been abused in any way?

Maybe some people bought the FRS/BRZ because it is more practical. More space for groceries or room for the kids/pets. You can also make a thread about s2000 over the Miata as well. It comes down to preferences, not everyone will find the s2000 a nice car.

I was in the market for a S2000, but the insurance on it is way to high.

Because I've already had 2 of them before and didn't want a soft top again and the price of a used cr is too high to justify

I agree on the price point, S2000 hold their value REALLY well. I haven't owned a soft top yet, but I'd imagine it to have a lot more road noise than the FRS/BRZ given the fact that there is already a lot of road noise.

Another con: 18/24 vs 22/30 MPG on the twins.

I settled on the FR-S because it was more practical overall.

Because the transmission eats it self.

Rare, but common enough to make me worry.
