Custom sun roof

Sorry if this is a repost, I really did look to see. Does anyone have any info on this? Looks like a custom sun roof, and it was at the 86 Australia meet according to the photographer.

Custom sunroofs never work. They'll always end up leaking and sacrifice the integrity of the roof in the event of a rollover.

I don't see how it could work with our roofs. Looks cool from this angle but its got to be a bad idea.

With the size of our roof you might as well make it a convertible.

It looks like it involved completely replacing the center panel of the roof as there's a little flair where it meets the rear glass. I can appreciate the effort in doing this but I have strong doubts about it's integrity when it comes to keeping water out. I doubt if the center pane of the roof would have much to do with safety in the case of a roll over.

Reminds me of the FD3s' sunroof, unique yes but wouldn't do it.

Look at how the dips in the roof meet the sunroof. All is see is a place for water to sit until it finds a leak.

The only thing I don't get is why you couldn't have a sunroof even with the grooved roof of our cars. I mean, I wouldn't do this in the aftermarket but it would have been cool if they designed a sunroof right from the factory with the glass moulded to continue the lines of the roof. That would be so cool.
