Scion FRS (with unichip) vs Fully Bolted Mazdaspeed 3

My friend was saying how slow the scion FRS would be once I traded in my ride (MS3) for a FRS. We decided to test that theory out. From a dig I pulled on him like crazy (twice). Anyways from a dig he will keep his mouth shut for the time being lol. On a roll I would get severely crapped on for sure because he is running 22 psi lol.

Just to be clear I did have Unichip installed which helped out with the throttle response and added a bit of power. Also a K&N Filter. Love the Unichip!

With those cars the way he describes them, the frs loses on any road course in America

I didn't know that boost pressure = torque steer. Well, you learn something new everyday. LOL

OP and all supporting racerbois, please refer to the "Don't be a ricer" thread.

Knew I would get a comment like this so I was prepared. He is an impressive driver. As others have mentioned the FWD is a huge issue. Adding massive power to any FWD car will have resort in some negative outcomes. The torque steer is not an issue in his case since he has all motor mounts covered, it is the wheel spin.

Also I am surprised that some guys/gals are bashing their own rides. Cmon people give your cars some credit. With some practice these cars have a lot of potential and can compete with higher end sports cars.

Managing wheelspin is part of being a driver... You can control output, which directly controls wheelspin, with the gas pedal. While wheelspin may look/sound cool, it's not fast.

I love the Mazda and it's entire practicality and affordable reasons. Same with the Focus ST. But the FRS platform was soley designed to be a race car. Not a spacious bubble mobile used for loading 60" TV's, or families taking their children to the mall. The Mazda does do that in a fun and powerful manner. But the frs is the bargain deal to world class handling. Just add power to your liking. DONE! It has a chassis that competes against cars costing more than double it's price. Talk about a deal. Toyobaru did it right with this car! What the frs almost certainly needs is a turbo kit. And, I'm not even talking about a big turbo either. That'll be enough to satisfy faster lap times and the crave for power. It will make for an even "funner" drive.

Not knocking on Mazda as I am a fan of Mazda Speed. I particularly like the Mazda Speed6 AWD when it comes to their newer stuff. Sick ride.

...sad truth is that if it weren't for the 86 to come out and how much i fell in love with the handling, i would've just got a boring powered 2014 Mazda3 5dr. But how they look so sexy for your practical 5dr!

Cheers
