Stoptech Brakes

[QUOTE=normancw;1331548]I'm in for a Top Kart event. What made you choose Stoptech over other BBKs (e.g., AP Sprint)?

Sadly, I'm playing it by ear and feel. Was hoping to get three years 60 000km out of the brakes. Doubtful if that is going to be the case. if it does I will get the Willwoods ( less pricey than the brembos). If I have to change next year then I will get the Stoptech regular kit on Ft86speedfactory for just over $800, still and upgrade over OEM but at least I can continue down the modding path I have chosen for the car. I am very curious to see the innovate kit with intercooler with the 70 mm pulley. Leaning toward that product for year 4 along with new clutch. Told my wife it's the supercharger for this car or a new vette for my 50th birthday. Her choice.

Yeah, doubtful even without trackdays you would get that much on stock brakes. I've run through my set of HP+ to the point they are razor-thin, and have now put what's left of my OEM pads (about 40%) back on the car for the winter period. I'm at 35K so far.

And Paul, I'll have to try that line with my wife too, noted! (substitute Corvette for Porsche)

Mods...
Already have the Toms tails I might even put them on for Friday night
I really want black housing headlights and I might go with spy's era or those wingate ones that look like the oem Toyota ones or split the stocks open and paint them
Install the Perrin pulley I've had since this time last year
Stereo upgrade with touchscreen & nav
Small removable 2x 8" subwoofer enclosure for the trunk
Smoked side markers with LEDs
Smoke front turn indicators with switchbacks
Front lip camera so I don't ruin my lip (any further)
Rear camera just because
Another cusco rear brace and maybe new swaybars f/r
No S/C or turbo in my near future still show and not go - but I want it to handle well when I do get out to a track next year

How fat a tire can be mounted on the stock rims without rubbing with a lowered setup like mine? Once I wear out the stock rubber at the track I'll need to get some stickier 17" tires

See some of you Friday night at M&M!

I've learned to tell my wife about potential mods I might get as soon as I start thinking about it. That way, when I do buy something, she can't say I never discussed it with her
A tried and true method.

Also, make the initial discussion about something much more expensive than what you really want so when it actually comes in, she is relieved.

On stock rims probably don't want to go bigger than 225/45R17. Lotsa good choices in that size.
Norm, what size PSS were you running this year?

Ideal grip setup on 17" is a 245/40R17 on a 8.5" to 9" wide rim.

This doesn't work when I talk about spending 13k on a forged block and turbo kit
