Dealerships suck, period.

It's funny how when I was leaving the mechanic mentioned the survey I would receive and he hopes that his service reflects on that...

As I walk to the very back of the parking lot to get my car, notice that there is handprints ALL over the hood of my swp. There's a blue latex glove jammed in the hood, AND my hood stopper pole thingy wasn't in the holder so it was forces into a plastic rivit almost breaking it when the hood closed... Fuck I just let these ignorant idiots work on my engine. They better hope I never fill out that review.

To all business owners; it's the little things.

FINALLY got the call, my 2nd pump is in. Had the first one replaced with the same original part number and got crickets back in less than two weeks even running 100% non ethanol. They ordered this pump and said like 5 days but its been almost two weeks. Have an appt for Tues @ 9am, getting a loaner. They said it should be 5 hours. I spoke to the dealer that I am going to take the car to once all this bs is over with and they told me this must be their first time. He said after their service did the first one (took 4.5 hrs) they are avg 2-3 hrs tops now.

Either way there is a beautiful shiny new dark blue wrx sitting on the lot, I'm going to tell the service advisor that is the loaner I want just to fuck with him. Figure for my sins I will end up with a trade in pos dodge caravan with chrome vato zone hub caps lol.

I told them "absolutely do NOT wash this car!" Last time I was in I placed signed on dash and on windshield. Forgot the signs this time. Paranoid of getting swirl marks with crappy dealership washing techniques. Wife thinks I'm nuts. A total car geek.

So your willing to let the dealership turn wrenches on your car an perform a somewhat in depth procedure but your worried about them washing it.. makes absolutely no sense.

I can understand where he's coming from. Dealership washes usually use recycled water, which carries fine particles in it, combined with spinning, twirling washing parts, and you end up with swirls and marks in the paint, however subtle.

So you think we're wrong? Please, I want to hear what you have to say. I'm not so closed-minded that I can't withstand another's opinion.

Just to keep things open, I do trust them to work on my car--for minor things like oil changes or tire rotation. And I do have to go to them for warranty work. But I don't like automated car washes in general.

When you buy a car from new, and detail it yourself. And notice every new scratch/chip etc. I understand why you wouldn't want a dealership washing, especially a hand wash, most dealerships are ignorant enough that seeing someone wipe down a car with a dirty rag grinding into the clear coat wouldn't even surprise me.

But to each his own, maybe once/if @JOSI owns an 86 he/she will understand.

I had mine covered under warranty. Since then I've noticed that when I drive long distances and or drive pretty hard it will come back but shutting it off and letting it cool down makes it go away. Also, using lower grade gas such as Alon or Valero makes it more prevalent while Chevron will make it go away almost entirely.

I have the brand new Scion part number pump, today my crickets returned. They are certainly no where near as loud, plus they seem to be intermitent. Dammit!

More crickets again.

What a let down.... and I thought this was the magical pump I was waiting for. Guess I get to wait another year.

So along with @infinite012 add me to the chirp list on the new pump part #.

I have the usual cricket noise. This is my second FRS.

I have tracked the car several times. I always run 93 pump gas, but when I go to the track, I run the car empty and fill up at the track with 93 no ethanol race gas.

I realize that I have no crickets as long as there is 93 race gas in the tank. As soon as I put ethanol blend, it comes back.

So this is what I don't understand.

Today it was 84 degrees. Same tank of gas, down to just under 3/4 and I had virtually 0 crickets. Nothing changed. It chirped like hell when it was cold all last week, and yesterday it was still fairly warm and I had chirps. Today I drove with no crickets whatsoever. The pattern of this is just ridiculous. I have no idea what to even believe anymore with them. This is on Shell 93 octane with "may contain up to 10% ethanol". I know it's not the ethanol content because I'm over a quarter through this tank.

And yes, for anyone reading this just now, it is on the new fuel pump from Oct 17th, 2013.

I had the pump changed at around 8,000 miles a few months back. I now have the chirp noise back at 12,000 miles. I actually started noticing it few weeks back, so it probably came back at 11,000 miles. I did get a TRD exhaust and intake (bring the hate) to combat the chirp noise
Dealership is supposed to get back to me this week to let me know if Toyota is going to pay for a 2nd replacement. I don't know how they wouldn't if the product is clearly defective....
