I am 22 and pay 500 every six months for full coverage (35/100 IIRC) for my 86 samurai and 04 s2000.

I'm thinking of getting an FR-S/BRZ instead of a s2000 CR. The car will replace my Evo X and will be used for street / competitive auto-x. The CR is already a proven winner in STR & BStock. What do you guys think?

It's a hard call, I still think the s2k will be a better autocross car. But the brz does weigh less and has a better torque curve. IMO it'll be really close but I see the s2k being a more competitive car overall. Still if you aren't in a hurry I'd wait and see what other guys do with the frs in autox.

The CR is ~ 2745lbs w/o the hardtop. The weight will be a little lower in STR trim. It will probably weigh less the the FR-S/BRZ.

I saw a mint / stock CR for sale recently. I'm thinking of buying because they're hard to come, especially stock.

Im tempted at the moment badly. My neighbor is selling a 04 s2000 with 65k miles for 12k OBF. If i sell my si sedan i could get around 12-14k for it so no payments or debt for the s2000 and even a little money to play around with.

I love the s2000 and the idea of no payments which gives me more money to buy photo gear and car parts with but im iffy about buying a car with over 50k miles >_>

Any input ?

Those are low miles for a Honda. That's just my opinion of course. I have no reservations buying an s2k w/ 50k miles. But I'd only get 06+ for the flash pro.

I think I will get another s2k over the FRS after all. Need to sell the zzZZzz Evo X first.

No worries at all. Just get a compression test & check the valves. If you are going to supercharge it, any year is good.

The S is about having one of the best convertibles on the market. The FRS may be one of the best hard tops on the market. Use that as your factor and the answer is simple.

For me, nothing will replace my S2K. A 458 convertible might come close. I look forward to sunny top down days with my lady every warm day...

I currently own an S2000 and as a daily driver, it can be very uncomfortable compared to an SI. Gas mileage isn't the worst but it could be better. It is still a great car and extremely fun to drive. I am just hoping the BRZ comes close in terms of handling and the enjoyment of driving.

Where are you located because if you don't jump on that, I might have to haha. Bkstarx is right though, you may not realize how much better an Si DD is over a 2-seater. That's something that's holding me back from buying an s2k or 350z. As for mileage, 50k is barely broken in on a honda, the engine may be high compression, but let's not forget, it's still a honda.

One a side note - I ran some insurance numbers last night and it's cheaper for me to insure an 03 s2k than an 05 rsx type-s or 05 honda accourd coupe. How does that make any sense?

Very true. I get the RSX type-s because it's a fairly quick car but still, an 2003 s2k is worth a lot more than a 2005 accord coupe 4-banger and can get you in a lot more trouble, but I do see your point.

I pay 50/month liability for my RSX and I can bump it up to full coverage for 80-90/month. So you're telling me I can be paying less than that with a S2k? That's insane.
