Yuo need:
a) primer on parts for preparation
b) tone base coat primer (dark grey)..

c) first coat (water emulsion) blue tone matt (this that you see in engine bay)
d) metallic base paint WRB (water emulsion)
e) clear gloss (solvent emulsion)

In my experiences, the big deal that bodywork can do is on e) clear gloss. Poor clear gloss produce lower quality and sometimes great earnings.

There are clear gloss (solvent base) from Eur 25/kgs up to Eur 300/kgs. Quality costs.
Remember that some PPG or Dupont paint for WRB are issued with 3 variants on metal and one for PU (bumpers and so on)....but a good work needs some "tone tests". Solar light receiver and light/paint analyzers cannot replicate the same tone. Humans do it better...
It's actually Galaxy Blue Silica (discontinued color for 2014 on the brz) That is one thing I am worried about is them matching the color perfectly.

To post an update guys, I got another quote a few days ago for about 900$. Big difference in the quote from this other shop which was 1200-1500. But, the 1200 quote, all the reviews say it is the best body shop in the area. When I went there they had Elise's, tricked out classic cars, and all types of vehicles in there.

The other place seemed a bit shady and all the guys were smoking near the cars they were working on etc. So at this point I may make a drive to IAG or something. I am also still considering wide body kits, however I am concerned if I sell it, it will not be stock and that will have to be fixed down the road.

its going to have to be ground down to bare metal to repair anyway, slight surface rust isnt really an issue. now if you plan on leaving it as is until after winter, it could cause repair headaches. if you want the color to match properly, make sure all adjacent panels are blended as needed.

Check out what this guy did, You'll just have to do it on a bigger scale... or maybe it's to risky for something that size. I don't know, in the end it's up to you.

If it rains or snows where you are at a lot, definitely need some sort of protection asap, touch-up paint would help although you have a lot to cover

Someone bumped into me while I was parked at a parking lot while at work, sigh... I touch up paint the exposed metal already, haven't fixed the dent though... apparently PDR isn't possible since it's by the gas panel, there is some sort of sealant on all cars around there so a shop needs to remove the panel to fix it.

Part cost 170$ for new fender and should cost you about 250-300 to paint.

Anything more is a rip off.

Huh?

This isn't a fender. This is a QUARTER PANEL. It's $650 plus about 20 hours to install. Then, painting of the quarter, door and tailgate.

The fender is $200 actually. And when you replace the fender you need to blend the door and hood. You can't get that done for anything close to $300 unless you go to some hack shop. Keep in mind that this is 3 stage/pearl paint.

The dark image is taken the night it happened. Notice all the red streaks. This was the paint that came from the pole.

The second image shows after I tried to buff out the paint that was left on the clear coat. What is left is the streaks where it got down to the metal.

What you DON'T see are about 5-6 indentations/bumps that occurred as a result. Almost like someone hit my car with a small putter.
Edit: It also looks worse in person than the pics show.

Result: took to body shop, told me it will be 1,200-1,500 to repair. He said he would have to do that whole panel, up to the door and can't just repair it by like touching up the paint and taking out the dents.

My concerns: that is a lot of $$. Going to get another opinion. But I am worried that a) the paint won't look as good b) it might be noticeable that the whole panel has been taken off and reworked

I don't know what to do. It looks a lot better than it did the first night. I washed it and waxed it to try and fill in the scrapes. It did help a ton. But I feel my car is tainted now and extreme sadness now everytime I drive it, like I am walking around with a black eye.

Any helpful input is appreciated.
I have pretty similar damage, going to attempt to fix it myself for less then $100. I've seen some pretty good DIY fixes on damage even bigger then this, so I figured it couldn't hurt. I will post pictures sometime next week once what I need gets in.
