Aren't you "trying to believe" that what is important to others must be identical to what (you think) is important to you? This is not the case...

If acceleration is that important to you, you could sell the FR-S and buy an LS1 F-body that's about 1.5 seconds quicker and 13mph faster in the 1/4, and have plenty of cash left over to offset the increase in fuel cost for many years to come!
Well my last car I am talking about was my Z06.. So I do have an appreciation for power and torque. But I have no desire to get back in one. You misunderstand my post. The reason I got into this car was because I wanted something more useable in the real world and I never want to spend 1800$ again for a set of tires...
Those who own this car and think there is no value is straight line speed are just fooling themselves.. I've been to the track with this car.. It's fun, but to compete it needs more power.. Some many argue that fact... But they need to keep to the right... So save your speeches... I appreciate and love this car for what it is... But I also know what it isn't...

"Value" is subjective.
Your values may differ from others'. Even some sports car enthusiasts, hell even some professional racing drivers legitimately don't give a rat's arse about straight-line speed in a road car.

Yeah.. I hear sports car enthusiasts complaining all the time about having too much straight line power.. Especially on this forum...

Next time one of those old cudgers gives you a hard time about modifying your car, ask them if they ever:

* hung anything from their rear view mirror
* had "flipper" or "moon" hubcaps
* put "skirts" on their car
* had a "spinner" on the steering wheel
* put lowering blocks under the rear springs
* heated the front coil springs (to lower the car)
* burned out glasspacked mufflers before installing
* installed glass packs backwards (intentionally)
* put on "port-a-walls"
* reversed the wheel rims
* drilled out the jets in their carburetor
* ran without the air cleaner
* milled a head
* added a vacuum gauge to the gauge cluster
* added a tachometer
* installed "blue dot" tail lights
* installed a "ugga-horn"
* put a "rake" on a car (lowering the front end only)
* added a "spotlight"
* pulled out the choke, while driving through a burger place (made any car sound like it had a "cam")
* colored lights in the grill
* installed a "bar" grill
* added a reveberator along with a rear speaker
* added a "cut out" to the exhaust pipe
* added traction masters (to a car with a powerglide transmission)
* and we can't forget the "fuzzy dice"

Just ask-em .... that outta shut em down .....

humfrz

Now THAT is a list. That must have taken some time to compile.

That was fun to read.

Thanks.

By that time, I figure cars won't have a "stick" ..... they will be electric and drive themselves. Just hop in, tell the smart girl in the dash where you want to go ..... punch (or say) GO ..... and then lean back and text, have a snack, take a nap or .....whatever ....

All I'm saying is that when I hop into my '03 Ranger XL after driving the BRZ for a week and the Ranger feels punchy in comparison, that's not a good sign.

Put it this way, when I drive my S2000 on the street, I never even get into VTEC. The ~75-150 max horsepower between 2500-6000rpm is perfectly adequate for my usage. It's enough, I don't find myself wanting or needing more on the street. I'm not COMPLAINING that it has too much horsepower, why would I? But the extra 90hp available at 8300rpm is just irrelevant for my usage on the street.

Lots of things to be done before power that will let an FRS more than "compete" against more powerful cars on a typical road course. In one particular session this summer at Roebling, my car was "faster" than Viper GTS, E92 M3, SLK 55, E46 M3, R8 V10, C5 Z06, and lastly VW Golf R. Not faster than 2013 GTR but the GTR was being driven by Jonathan Sumerton and it took him a while to catch me as we worked through the before mentioned traffic. This car can be a track beast on stock power BUT I am adding more in increments that my wallet can support as quickly as possible!
