TRD intake

Im not real sure where this would be at... but is anyone here running the TRD air intake and filter? I'd normally do something cheaper but anything non Toyota extra mods will void my lifetime unlimited mileage warranty.. Just curious what others thought of it.

Panel filter replacement is a good option.

Just get a drop-in filter and save yourself some money. Heck, you could even buy a Perrin intake tube with the money saved and just swap it back to stock if you have to go to the dealership for anything.

And since when did a non-Toyota intake replacement void a warranty? I can understand if the intake caused the issue but even that's very limited/rare.

I've got a K&N Air Filter, cost less than $40... and I still have the stock filter that I can swap to if I need to return the car back to stock, which would take about 5 minutes to do.

Nothing voids your warranty. The dealership can, however, not honor your warranty for damages/repairs that they deem were a result of the modification(s) that you made. In other words, don't mention that you modified the car to your dealer, and swap the filter if you need any sort of mechanical maintenance that would involve the dealership taking apart your air box.

FWIW, our stock air boxes are designed really well, and the gains from a drop-in filter vs a cold air intake design are minimal at best. My opinion is to save your money on the TRD intake and just get a filter. You could use that extra money on an OFT (Open Flash Tablet), STS (Short Throw Shifter), or some other relatively cheap/fun mod instead.

TRD - K&N

I did the K&N filter replacement and noticed no difference, then the TRD (which has a much larger K&N).

The TRD was MUCH better ! Noticeably better breathing - more air moving easier. Felt better revving etc.

Changed the sound of my Magnaflow catback - Deeper rumbling sound etc.

Improvement in gas mileage !

The large surface area of the filter (almost twice the size of stock) alone makes it worthwhile.

But if you don't wanna spend - the K&N saves buying new filters.

Lifetime, unlimited mileage warranty? Didn't know they'd offer something like that considering every part is going to go out eventually. Also why on earth would you buy this highly modifiable car and lock yourself out with a warranty like that? lol

it came free with the car. it's only the powertrain warranty that is lifetime unlimited mileage warranty. And as long as I stick with TRD parts it won't void warranty.

What makes you think you will void your warranty by using non TRD parts?
TRD is aftermarket, so are the others. For a simple air intake and exhaust, I doubt anyone would care unless the part itself was defective.

I have the TRD intake, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to those who are looking for an intake and have the money for it.
