How drivable would 9k rpm be?

I mean I know direct injection helps with torque..but unless they use the same gear ratios, now just being elongated by redline. So would that mean like 72mph 2nd gear? I am speaking in terms of 5spd...so i guess 62mph 2nd gear?

Gearing is EVERYTHING ahhhlol

In my car 1st gear only goes up to 28mph...so pitiful! the C6 z06 goes to 62mph in 1st! ahh

I would like 35-40mph 1st gear, 65 2nd, 90 3rd, 110 4th (should do great for stock 1/4 mile runs...right after max torque I would think)

That's just me. 5th and 6th would be nice to short from eachother...like 135-155 something like that.

That would make 6th a true overdrive (10mph less than standard) and only needed for tracks with long straights...assuming you can get to 155 on any track with 200hp and 160~ torque.

Maybe Fuji? HA

Unless you guys want something like 1st 50, 2nd 75, 3rd, 95, 4th 110, 5th 135, 6th 155.

That would be ideal for tracks with longer turns, but would suck in auto-X. If only gears would be as malleable as in Gran Turismo lol, then you could change for every track.

Just a rant. Moving on!

If that's true... most of S2k owner would be driving in the freeway on 2nd gear... and I'm pretty sure all the S2k owners here will tell you they do use 6th gear in freeway, even though they're not driving 155.

I was hoping for a turbo equipped FT but an N/A would be just as fun.
Well, if you are looking for a mk4 supra tt, that is in good condition, expect to pay any where from 25-40g's.

All of my friends tell me that i can get 40g's for mine, since it is basically 1 owner(My Dad bought it and then gave it to me), and it doesn't even have 80,000 km's yet. Always stored in winter since day 1 and changed the oil every 3500 km after warranty.

I was thinking of selling mine though but i don't think i'll get 40g's for it,
I'll sell you mine if interested

Mazda Miata NC 2nd gear goes up to 70mph...

Im just saying in terms of ratio, practicality. I didnt mean shift points for daily driving!

My 3rd gear tops outs at like 80 or so...doesnt mean I dont cruise the highway in 5th.

I've seen a some gems in the 40's and even some retard ones like an oem one for 66K w/less than 30k.

Toronto is too far to even think about bringing it to CA but say hi to my buddy Tim up in Waterloo for me.

a good friend of mine used to have a SUPER nice 1993.5 supra tt 6 speed hardtop. i believe he sold it for roughly $50,000 with 600whp, stock body, Fikse wheels, and less than 40,000 miles. it is by far my favorite supra i've ever seen.

-Mike

EDIT: back on topic, i don't think we need anything that revs to 9,000 rpms. i think 7800-8400 for a redline is fine on a 2.0L. it's fun, but we'll see what they give us...

Never know, Toyota might do it like Honda did with S2k. First gen rev up to 9k and second gen rev up to 8.4k (correct me on this one. Can't remember the redline on AP2).

I'll be happy just as long as the redline is above 7k, but above 8k would be ideal.

And super close, ichitaka, the S2k AP2 actually has just an 8k redline, but i think fuel cut off is at 8.4k, like you said.

Ya, they can get even higher. It all depends on the mods, if done professionally, it can greatly increase the value.

The 2jz-gte block can withstand 1000 hp easily

he was setting it up more for road course. with the cams (272s, IIRC) and his turbo (T61 or something) he had so much torque everywhere in the rev range that he had traction issues up through 4th gear, heh. didn't need any more power.

i miss that car.
