When will Calty fire all their deisgners? There is nothing good from Calty lately. ED2 did pretty good job, much better than this.

Please don't let Calty touch the FT-86 project, Leave it to ED2. I want a sharp looking FT-86( should be at least 80% like the concept), not a watered down(from Fuse concept) one like the new tC. Thanks in advanced.

Toyota die hard fan.

I am pretty underwhelmed by the "redesign".... did they even try?

It looks clean and I like that it took some cues from the fuse concept.... but seriously? I understand the need for continuity in design but dammit, this is what should have been done to the tC two years ago. You have officially dropped the fucking ball Scion.

That being said, it will probably look a lot nicer in some better colours, with better wheels. No idea why Toyota insists on showing it's cars in these drab ways. That being said, the 5 axis widebody mockup looks the shit.

Its like a Corolla and a new sentra had sex, and the corolla drank heavily and rode ATV's during the pregnancy. This hurts my eyes.

that color(?) looks like its a template to just throw paint on it or make your own design/color combo

I for one...never thought the tC was aggressive looking....it always looked like a bad combination of 3 or 4 different cars to me. I think this new concept looks better. I like the flat roof and the front end but I agree that the rear is pretty ugly along with the uninspiring engine bay...

...also, they should push the manual transmission not the automatic for a sporty coupe. Dumb move by Toyota but goes along with the "sweet engine" idea.

The tC seems to have taken some slight cues from the FT-86 steering wheel. I think the FT will have similar seats (maybe with slightly larger bolsters) to the tC, at least in the "standard" version anyway.

God, kill it with fire. While I am one of the few who likes the 2nd gen xB this new tC is the nail in the coffin for Scion.

this design is a colossal fail.

"The next Scion tC May Touchdown to the US by 2010

There have been a lot of rumors and speculations about the new sports coupe brewing between giant automakers Toyota and Subaru, but not much has been said about the car’s availability in the United States. According to early press releases, both the Toyota and Subaru versions will be sold in the U.S. but there have been new speculations that only the Subaru version will be released for U.S. consumption.

The guessing game ended when a new report said that both Toyota and Subaru will be marketing in the U.S. but the new sports coupe will not be wearing the Toyota badge.

According to CarScoop, the new sports coupe will be sporting the Toyota’s Scion emblem and will be released in the U.S. as the new Scion tC—a compact car introduced by Toyota in 2004, which is specifically designed to appeal to the Generation Y.

It has been confirmed that the new Toyota/Subaru coupe will arrive in the U.S. sometime in 2010 or early 2011. It will be Scion’s first rear-drive model.

Rumor has it that Scion tC sales might plummet because of the new Toyota/Subaru coupe, which dons the Scion emblem as the next Scion tC instead of being sold as two, almost identical, models.

The Subaru version comes with an optional 4-wheel drive system and a turbocharged engine with 300 horsepower. However, the tC will stick with the 2.0 liter four-cylinder boxer engine producing 200 horsepower, this is so to keep the value prices of the Scion models."
If so, I called it.. thoroughly disappointing tho that my car will associate to those refrigerator looking things.

please reread your article. They already announced the new tC, and its most definitely NOT the FT-86.

Exactly. Not only will tC sales NOT plummet, but the FT-86 will be that cars that make scion tC owners cross over to Toyota.

The tC has it's place in the grand scheme of things, I don't see it competing with the FT-86, but rather complementing it.

The people who wrote that article have no clue whatsoever.
