What the hell do car makers NOT put the bottom two screw holes for license plates?
WELL?????
I have a license plate that I attached with double-sided tape on the bottom because the FR-S, like many cars, does not come with the bottom two screw holes. |

Does it really need four to hold the thing on?

To simply hold it here? Of course not.
To make it look clean? Yes. A common problem with license plates is that they are warped (due to the thinness of the metal). So if you want a frameless look, you pretty much have to tape the bottom to your car. |

Ahh. Although if I was after "clean" I wouldn't use screws at all.

Well, tzhu07, may I suggest you use a strong two sided sticky tape underneith to help support the plate and then superglue two bolts into the bottom holes, to match the top two .... ??

Adds lightness.
You could sandblast the back of the plate to make that lighter too

The WeatheTech ClearFrame license plate frame is gasketed to seal the elements off of the face of the license plate. In order to affect a complete seal fasteners are required top and bottom.

Sound systems can make the plate rattle. I put some padded tape on the backside of the plate for this reason.

I just used double-sided tape on the foam that (I guess?) the dealer installed ... works well... guess I'm lucky enough to have a straight plate.

My moron of a salesman used a drill to screw in my rear license plate and the nylon bushings (?) are stripped. Are there part numbers and a way to pop them out for replacement?

I found one of mine was stripped as well when I went to replace the temporary tag with my license plate. The dealer's parts department said it would cost about $7 and they would have to order it. I said why should I have to pay for it when their employee damaged it putting on the temporary tag. They ended up finding a spare one in the service department, popped it in and was good to go.
