245/40/17 summer tire recommendations needed

Buying a squared "light" set of 17 x 9 wheels this winter for next summer season when car comes out of hibernation. Since ordering soon I want to also get tires lined up to. Like anyone I have certain tires in mind but I'd like to get experienced opinions based on tires in mind.

Now first off my priorities in my final decision are:

1.) Prefer non directional tires so I can rotate any corner
2.) Quiet tires, increase in road noise is not an option if can avoid
3.) Good wet and dry handling
4.) Decent wear with min -1.5 camber all around
5.) Good looking appearance?


Notes:
Car primary use will be 90% street, ....track (auto x) and messing about 10%

Average summer temps where I live from spring to fall are 35-90 F or +5 to +32 Deg Celcius, spring and fall temps can vary 20 Deg Celcius from am to pm.


Tires so far in mind are, BFG Rivals, Toyo T1 Sport, Hankook Ventus RS3, V12s, Yokohama S Drive, Michelin PSS.

Many folks here have far more experience with all these. Based on criteria I'd love to hear some thoughts. I appreciate any feedback!

PSS ftw, just about as good in the wet as they are in the dry, pricey but worth it imo. i live on vancouver island though so rain is plentiful here, they should wear better than most of those other tires as well.

Michelin PSS, all day, every day.

I've run V12's as well. Good bang for the buck tire and I suppose better if you want to spend less money but you'll burn through them quicker and they won't provide nearly as high a performance as the PSS will.

You end up saving money with the PSS in the long run considering they'll last longer and perform better while doing it.

iirc, V12's are also directional. PSS are not.

MPSS yes a few fellows here in our local 86 club have them and love them. However as example I have on a 9.5" wide rear set the MPS all season in 255/35/18 friend has MPSS same size and his are MUCH larger meaning mine appear abit stretched a tad where as his are almost in appearance a 265/35/18 even though they're not... I suppose on a set of 17x9 if I went with MPSS I could go with 235/40/17? I'm all about meat but don't want "too" meaty if there's such thing lol. I REALLY don't like poke where you can see an obvious gap betwen wheel edge and the tire edge flush square fitting is nice.

Pilot Super Sports appear to run a bit wider than most tires. Makes them awesome. lol.

I've read again and again the praise of RS3 and Rivals in regards to auto x tires, how are they for road comfort and noise though? Also decent in wet conditions? Tire Rack reviews on those two are all over the place..

RS3's - Great dry, not so great wet, wear fast but are fast.
Rivals - No personal experience.

Like many have said, trying to get the best of both world on the same tire/wheel setup usually leave you lacking in one direction or the other.

My personal setup goal
RS3's for the track on 17x9's and
Conti Sport Contact DW's for the street on 18's when my stockers are worn out.

Good wet and dry will be a compromise in the highest performance street tire category...my suggestion? Go down one category and get yourself some Pilot Super Sports. Excellent wet grip for what they are (sticky summer tires). Non-directional and long-lasting from the reviews I've read, but I've only about half a year's worth of miles on mine.

Dunlop Z2s are also a very nice tire.

Do PSS's or Z2's come in 235/40/17? I find it's hard getting tyres in that size.

I love my Z2s ...
Have several track sessions on them .. and they have held up surprisingly well. The traction in wet is honestly pretty damn good. On the track - they are beasts. They heat up reasonably well and the grip is sweet. They give you great response in high speed cornering that you are pushing them pretty hard ... so there is no "surprise" breaking loose ...

But alas ... directional.
