Both are okay. Which one is better? One that you find more comfortable with. I prefer the second one though. And to really help maximize proper form, look for one of those seats at the gym. Set the seat a couple feet away from the squatting rack or right under the squatting machine and practice by squatting very closely without actually sitting down on the seat.

There's even sumo squats that are a bitch, imo, but I haven't done that in quite a while.

Real question here is, how much weight and how many sets/reps you do and what's the goal in any?
