It seems like they're making an upgrade kit to the 400CF available for current 400 owners, and taking pre-orders for the 400CF for everyone else.
So far it's sounded like everyone who is upgrading from the 400 to the 400CF has needed to provide their factory mids for mutilation. Does anyone know if the same is required for the pre-order if someone were to buy the 400CF? TBH, it seems a little ridiculous that a system that's built around being an easy install and interfacing directly with stock wiring is making you destroy parts of your OEM system, making it impossible to revert to stock and re-sell the system (maybe that's why they're doing it, to kill the second hand market). I have a hard time believing that they were able to source every other connector for their umbilical, but couldn't find a source for the midrange connectors besides asking owners to disassemble their factory equipment, mail it to them, wait a few weeks without a proper stereo while they retrofit it, then receive the new stuff on the mail. Losing the stereo for a couple weeks and not being able to go back to stock without buying a replacement set of mids (likely to be $$$) is a dealbreaker, IMO. Anyone know if the sending-in-the-mids thing is for everyone, or just for previous owners doing the upgrade? Edit 11/21 - OEMAP contacted me, people purchasing the 400CF in the first place don't have to send in anything, great news everyone!

I ordered the 400CF and they provided instructions on removing the mid connectors and re-pining them with the unbilical. It was very easy.
Sending in the mids is only for the upgrade

Helpppppp
I installed the reference upgrade today and have lost my right tweeter and door sound. What do these two have in common, a plug, a wire, a connection from the amp? I worked with oem audio today trying to solve it but we are both stumped. I bypassed the oem audio and tried just the stock setup but the audio would crackle out of all speakers above 15 and the right side seemed weak. I checked all plugs to make sure the pins were not bent and or the wires were not popping out of the plugs. I swapped the stock head unit out with another one and same. They think it may be the umbilical but I don't think so after I tried the bypass Are any of the fuses below the dash for the stock amp or anything like that? I'm going to check continuity on the umbilical tomorrow to double checked their solder joints they did from the stock plugs. Other thing in common would be the dsp amp they reprogrammed as well. Any help would be great. Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk 2 |

Found the problem. Provided feedback to oem audio on how to prevent it going forward.
System sounds great. Yes they took bass so no more boom out of the back for sounds like a well balanced system. Gonna play more tomorrow. Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk 2 |

Anyone around the Atlanta, GA area that would let me demo the reference series OEM+ system. I just spent around $900 doing my own custom install. Nice 2-way setup in front with a 10" sub in back, small sealed enclosure. 50 watts to each front channel and 400 to the sub. DEH-80PRS head unit running everything on active crossovers and tuned time alignment. I'm really happy, but still curious to see how this system sounds compared to mine for the price difference. Will be very surprised if it sounds any better, and it honestly seems like the install is not any easier than the one I did. But, I won't know until I hear one. Let me know.

I'm in Jacksonville and also have the 80PRS (no external amps) installed in my DD Hoopty. It's a hard fight, but I do notice the rear fill from the CF and the it's clearer on the high volume.
Install wise, with no external amps the 80-PRS was plug and play after making the harness and wiring the tweeters. On the 400CF a little more trim panel removing and 100% plug and play after re-pining the mid plugs. I switch back and for between cars every week and am finding it hard to tell the difference. Hoopty has a 10" Infinity powered basslink so it has more on the bottom, but the BRZ comes through in the mid to high with a perfect balance down low. Road trip to Jax?

My car was used at the 86 bash this week so i had over 100 people in my car to test the system.
It was great the see the expressions on people's faces as they listen to the system. There were a few people that said their systems sounded better. Which for their style music or listening preferences they are probably right. Oem audio is more than open about their system not being made for everone. But I know a majority of people absolutely loved the system. Many people also liked the idea of a system they could buy through scion, have it installed by them and not void their warranty as well as no cutting any wires. I know my setup is not the best in the world but know it works great for my needs. OEM Audio also gave away the grand prize at 86 bash which was a full system 400. Some lucky guy was happy as hell. If so, that was impressive. The bass sweep was impressive as hell. Rattled my tail when it hit the LFE freqs. I'm sure that what you had installed could handle my symphonic metal and power rock ballad music pretty darn well.

I have not encountered anything the system cant handle. I have a full review coming up because I am running a unique version of the reference series. As soon as I'm allowed to give details I'll post my opinions on what is better for what music.
