HP makes no difference in proper driver behavior on track.

okay so he made a mistake, if there are no marshals watching over you, pull into the pits and tell the organizer/chief marshal that car number XYZ behaved improperly. They will black flag him and tell him whats up.

there are proceedures, and you must follow them

at my own track which is pretty small (1.6KM) we have 2 passing zones, in the straight, and one coming under braking in a hairpin(only use in the instructor/racer group). You can't pass everywhere on the track. If you do, you'll get warned.

Wich is what i did. I think people don't understand the way it went. I know HP doesn't make a difference in the way you are passing. But it does make a difference on how fast you are passing the other guy!

Let me take it again.

We come out of a curve, i am behind him in the straight. he point me oflline (left of the track, next corner is left in around 500M. I go offline to make the pass, i accellerate, and while accellerating, he swerve left(offline) where i was. I hit the brake to avoid the collision and stayed behind him.

And i wasn't on his ass, we had a 3 car lenght between car when we got out of the curve.

So even with open passing, it's just on the straights? When I hear open passing, I think anytime anywhere.

Don't be shy about complaining about others. Chances are, if you have a complaint about a driver/car, other people do too.

Only in the straight! Which is why i am for this kind of education on track!

No corner passing or anything like this!

And that driver didn't belong to our run group. he was removed from that run group later on. Just to point out, that even with point-by, you have to be double carefull, because you never know, if someone will point the direction they are going, instead of where you should pass.

This was my point.

I'm an SPDA member (in title) but i'm involved (have been involved) with CASC-OR Ontario Time Attack. Registrar for 3 years, also webmaster and a member of the car classification commitie. I've been doing this since 2005 and have instructed a number of people at our annual school. Put in tons of volunteer hours...

also CSCS does not run without helmets... you're thinking of Battle Endless/Touge.ca, those are lapping-only.

why do you ask? trying to find a way to insult me through my credentials? go eat a coconut...

EDIT: now that i htink about it, is the track you're refering to St.Eustache?

NOt at all. But i still like coconut!!

I just saw that you we're in ontario. I'm running with ASE lapping club, and i have supported a lot of the MCO hada guys while working at perry performance in laval, quebec.

You really are over the top with this story. I've put a lot of time in this in the past years, organising track day in mosport and calabogie, plus our own time attack and autocross event, 2 years ago was the national at st-eustache.

Anyhow i am done arguing with you..

edit: My bad for the CSCS, i couldn't remember, but it was touge.ca you are right!!

You questioned the use of point-by passing by telling us a story of a close-call you've had with someone that used point-by incorrectly.

but i hope you can see that one is not related the other... just because a driver made a mistake in using a point-by doesnt mean that a point-by system is bad.
