Some dealers are just worthless douchebags. Went thru the same thing with my dealer. Grade A asshats. Maybe you just need to a) escalate the issue higher up the food chain to the dealers management, SOA or their regional rep or b) find a different dealer to work with. I finally got a resolution thru the dealer I bought from and am waiting for the new pump to come in this week. And I have found a new dealer for all future issues. |

Brought it to the dealer for an oil change, mentioned the chirping. I have found a gas station that's quiet, so I'd been using it, but there's still slight chirping. Tech said "it sounded fine" and refused to perform the TSB. Pretty ticked off. I played a tech a video on my phone I recorded one afternoon when it was chirping like crazy, but they still wouldn't do it.
Next time I get gas, I'm going to go to the gas station that's given me the most crickets, wait for it to get loud, then park in front of the dealership and run in screaming that I have a car emergency, to get someone out there to hear it. I really don't get why having this shit done is like pulling teeth. Subaru has acknowledged the problem, issued a TSB. I've noticed the problem, recorded a video in which the crickets are clearly audible, and they've nicely told me to fuck off because "The tech thought it sounded fine". Bone stock drivetrain BTW, not even a drop-in filter or anything.

Went to my dealer. "Tech came up and said, your car chirps." So I respond yeah, that's why I'm here," to which he replies "lets get that fixed." Of course pump is on backorder because all of you beat me to it.

You did the right think taking the video clip..have the service manager or adviser come out and listen to the sound when you get it in the service lane. Don't turn the vehicle off because they have to drive or warm the vehicle for 10 minutes to get the chirp to appear usually. What happens is,once you drop your car off...it sits in service car parking lot and cools off by the time they get to it. Once they pull it in...more times than not their is no chirp problem. I work at the dealer and our own shop foreman (head technician) is trying to deny them as well because I have found they are not listening to the TSB video clips to verify that the chirps are abnormal. It wont show on the TSB I posted (pretty sure it didnt) but there is a sound clip they can listen to and compare the chirp. I'm hearing he may even try to deny my own TSB pump when it arrives. Also for those of you who had pumps changed previously...something many don't know is that when your car comes back in for service for the same problem...they give it to the tech who ORIGINALLY did the work... these techs DON'T get paid for this and because they ALSO don't or may not notice a problem at the time they will send it back. Also the part itself is $1302 so they try not to warranty something that expensive if they cant/didnt find a problem.

Believe it or not...its not so much the case of them being a-holes as to why they don't help you. There are alot of factors as to why it may have been denied.

The HPFP lists for $588.46 and can be bought for $502.54 online. As for your other comments. . .may want to think about what you're saying. The tech's get paid regardless. I think what you're trying to say is that the dealership is not getting paid for the labor. IIRC, the parts aren't being paid for by the dealership either. They get reimbursed from Subaru. So it's only costing the dealership the tech's time. Since dealerships don't make any money off of warranty work, they often don't like doing it, but if that's the case, you need to find a different dealer because how you're treated after the sale of the car is just as important as how they treated you during the sale.

One more thing...as for the price costing the dealership, you are correct and all I am implying is that its a high dollar warranty claim. Money is made off the parts though obviously....anything that goes across my counter, money is made off of... theres always a cost/list/msrp for everything
