Does anyone have stats on whether the problem has not come back when they've had their ECU replaced?

So 3 and 1/2 months later and my new dealership built FA-20 should be dropped into my empty engine bay tomorrow. God I hope this thing works.

Just in time for snow tires. Oh well getting it back is going to be amazing. I miss my car so much

I'll be sure to update the performance of the new engine.

ANY News?

So everything is okay with my Fr-s. Except for the "cricket noises" and "rpm/idle issues" and CEL and SL is on, like many peoples problems. I just want to know already, is there a PERMANENT FIX for these issues? Or are people still waiting? My dealers are acting like this is the first time theyve heard of any Fr-s issues and not really communicating with me, help me out here!?

A number of 86's seem to have shipped with faulty ecu's and/or bits and pieces of the avcs. The technical bulletin is basically a butt load of if this then that. Mention the scion tsb listed in the op.

The biggest recommendation I have for you is that if your dealership isn't helping you out or you don't feel you are getting the support you need you should contact Scion directly. That is what the Scion rep told me. Dealers don't want to get involved with these issues.

Oh, and a good side note: don't modify your car unless you can reverse it with out the dealership noticing. Scion has no problem dropping your warranty for putting mods on (like a turbo). Best of luck to you.

Hopefully Toyota will buy my car back under the state's lemon law. They don't really know what is wrong with it/how to fix it, and I don't want a new car that has already had the engine torn apart. What a joke.

550km, Check engine light was on when I turned on the car this morning.
First thing I checked was my gas cap and it was loose so I twisted it tight and turned the car back on but the light was still on. Does the light usually turn off instantly or does it take some time for the car to learn??

A little concerned cause on my commute home last night, my city decided to do construction on a main road which was at least 10km long. So it was pretty much unpaved road and dodging lifted man holes for 15 minutes straight

I'm noticing a lot of low-mileage used FR-S' for sale. Are the cars that have been bought back by Scion/Subaru able to be resold? I imagine lemon law buy backs cannot, but what about those that aren't lemon law'd?

I would give it more time. If it was a gas cap error code, it could take a few starts and a few miles to resolve itself.

A little bit of history first:
Purchased a 6AT FRS that I've had since June 2012 with 20886km on it have had no mechanical or engine problems till now. Only engine modifications its got on it are a SRT headerback exhaust and works drop in filter, cars only ever had chevron 94 octane in it.

So I started up the car this morning, noticed that the cold start didn't take as long as usual which was kinda of odd, only last about 10 seconds. Put the car into reverse and pulled out the driveway, while the car was in reverse I noticed that it was shuddering and wasn't as smooth. So I put the car into drive and the car just stalled and bogged down, throttle was unresponsive and the car wasn't moving.

CEL was on, so I shut the car off and started it back up. Car runs now but CEL is still on and the car keeps shuddering while driving, makes noises while in reverse, and not running anywhere near good.

Only plus is that it looks damn good in my driveway since I waxed the shit out of it a couple days ago

Do subaru dealerships offer free check ups for cel? I tightened my gas cap and have ran about 50km since. Cel is still there. Only 600sh km on the car.

It's a warranty service to diagnose the CEL cause. It should be free. Don't let them tell you otherwise.
