I originally wanted an FR-S, but ended up with a BRZ premium. Probably could have gone for a BRZ Limited, but at the same time, I did not really have an extra $2k to throw at the car. I am completely happy with my choice, and moreover, happy I went with the BRZ over the FR-S due to the extra features (HIDs, NAV, XM radio, etc.)
I originally wanted the spoiler and fog lights, but after a while, I noticed I love the exterior look of the car more without them. As far as the dual climate control, push button start, key less proximity entry, the seats, and the additional lights (door and visor), I could care less. Side note: Down here, the Scion dealers wanted more for an FR-S then the Subaru dealers for a BRZ Limited ![]() One last thing. The interior trim is also different in the premium versus limited. I actually love having all black trim, but that might just be me. |

I bought the limited mainly for two reasons:
1. The center stack/HVAC controls look awesome compared to the premium 2. Leather/alcantera seats I don't really care for the spoiler. |

Could you clarify? I'm not aware of any interior trim differences between the two cars.

Got a smoking deal on the Premium, so I went with that. Only thing I miss is the heated seats.

Limiteds do come with heated seats, push button start, and dual zone climate controls. |

The Premiums in my area all had dealer add-ons (all of them had the spoiler, auto-dimming mirror with compass, etc) and the price difference between the Limited and Premium was around $1K. For me, it was well worth it to get all the additional goodies for the Limited for around $1K. I suspect the Limited will have higher resale value and will be easier to sell/trade-in when the time comes.

Premium vs. Limited?
@gt8613 I was ready to purchase an 86 back in the early days when pre-orders became available at Subaru dealers (Mar. 2012) – at that time, Scion dealers were clueless (regarding down payment/ordering an FR-S). My wife enjoys heated seats in the winter and dual climate control is something we have become accustomed to having with other vehicles and suits us well on long trips. Considering the alcantara seats, that sealed the decision to order a BRZ Limited at MSRP over both FR-S and a Premium BRZ. The increased cost was worth it to me – the downside was the long wait due to limited initial allocations of BRZs. Probably could have obtained an FR-S sooner…had I found a Scion dealer that was not adding a market adjustment to their so called “pure price” back when 86s first hit the shore. Factory HIDs, NAV, XM, alarm, spoiler, heated mirrors and fog lights are all bonuses. What has surprised me is that I really do enjoy having the keyless entry and push button start the most. I never considered those features when making a purchase decision. It’s the icing on the cake IMO. I'm lovin' it. If you can afford the xtra cash for a Limited over the Premium….go for it! Not regretting my decision whatsoever. If, you could care less about this extra stuff the Premium is a good compromise between the FR-S and a Limited. Honestly, it’s the “because racecar” factor that I’d be just as pleased with an FR-S. Get what you really want and/or what your budget allows. Don’t forget to factor in whether or not you want to do some performance/appearance upgrades in your decision. Mods are addictive…and expensive!

I got a Limited, here's my observations:
-I came out of a car with leather seats. I find the alcantara to be cooler in the heat and warmer in the cold (not that the latter matters, since I have seat warmers). Leather is a skin, and it's meant to hold temperatures in. The leather/alcantara combo also looks super cool, but that's subjective of course. -I can't figure out why people hate on the BRZ spoiler so much. I love it. -Keyless access is so freaking convenient. Going back to a normal keyless entry system would be an awful first world problem to have. I actually just installed a Kevo on the door in my garage, so my hands never have to go in my pockets for keys. I just touch things to open them. -Push button start is very gimmicky, but it does save you from having to dig for keys, which is nice. -I live in Louisiana and I don't even know what heated side mirrors are for. -Automatic climate control is nice. I had it on the car I had in high school/college. Missed it when I got my next car, and now I have it again. Dual climate control, however, seems so utterly useless. The cabin is tiny, so if your passenger puts their temperature up, you will feel it and vice versa. I have dual turned off cause there's just no point 99% of the time. -Foglights - don't care. Honestly I don't even know if I've used them. If they don't come on automatically, then I haven't. They look okay, but then again I usually dislike the obvious empty space a lack of foglights leaves. |

I went limited for the seats, It was a 1800 difference for me. I also wanted the spoiler and fog lights, but i wasn't stuck on those. After awhile i have come to really like the push button, climate control, and key less entry. Im completely happy with it since i think to get the spoiler, leather, and fogs it would be much more than the 1800, so the rest it just a plus. Now that ive been driving it for awhile the features i like the most are the key less and leather seats. For the price i think its worth it, as for weight i couldn't see it being very noticeable at all, but i am not sure.

The only thing I would add is the sweeping comment that the interior just looks better (IMO) with the seats, with the push start, with the auto climate controls. I know it's been reiterated a million times, but this is honestly why I went with the limited. I came from a 08 Lexus IS and then a 11 GTi (loaded), so the interior niceties were important to me.

The keyless alone is worth the price of admission, the rest is just whip cream on top.

I was originally planning on getting the Premium, but I was won over by the Limited. I really liked the interior on the Limited. I don't regret it.

the 14 lbs diff wont make you a champion my friend. You have to see the car for yourself.
Everyone is talking shit about Alcantra seats. To me, it is actually a nice luxury addition to this car. Hot seats? You must have freaking phat ass. Geez!! Just turn on the AC!!! if you dont turn on your AC, it is hot in the summer regardless of your seats' materials. Perhaps, you should be looking at something made of plastic or wood lol. |
