Capabilities are endless when you talk about different machines with different wave lengths. The lasers I program are mainly marking (etching) lasers, but we also have a cutting laser. The materials we mainly mark are stainless steel & aluminum, parts are usually anodized black (the laser turns the black anodize white, gives it a nice contrast). The machines we use are quite big, Probably 6' wide x 6' deep x 8' tall. I can get you the voltage on Monday. Operating costs aren't too bad. The company Rofin sells warranties with their machines, and you can schedule someone to come every 6 months to perform preventative maintenance. The lasers we bought were in the $150,000 range. We clamp some parts (and fixture others), but most parts are just benched against 2 rails (in the shape of a L), so we have a good 0 location when programming parts. |

Has anyone else noticed that when you search by image on Google, and then go to "visually similar," the majority of the pictures are Asian people? Like... a disproportional amount in relation to how many people in the world are Asian.
I'm under the impression that every time some non-Asian person in the world uploads a photo to the internet, someone in Japan uploads 6. For example, here are the results from my own FT86Club avatar:
