what kind of programs are you going to be running on the laptop. I really wouldn't get anything crazy if your just using it for word processing, unless you plan on using it for on the go drafting.

If you're not much of a gamer, Ivy Bridge seems to have rather competent graphics so you might want to wait if you want a standalone solution.

I switched the GT240 to a GTX460, and I can play BFBC2 on highest settings with a X220 with i5-2410m. Nothing to scoff at! And I get to bring around a 3lb notebook when mobile.

And Guff, Snaps, I totally agree. I'm not even 19 yet lol.

Why don't we make use of it, due to so many threads from uniformed (not to say lazy) new members, and update it?

Some years ago I was planning to buy a 1k € latop with all the best stuff in it and it endend into buying a super cheap 15" with 1,8 GHZ.

It runs for years now - day and night (knock on wood). The only thing I did, was an RAM and HD upgrade 4-5 years ago!

until you are not gaming or doing freaky graphic things etc. - go for the cheap one!
