What about if you don't know they were chasing you? I was getting off of 95 going home and a Cop probably several hundred yards away from me right behind me in my lane turned the Sirens on, I took my exit which was about 100 Feet from where I was so basically I was right there, I took it then turned the light, saw the cop come off from the exit ramp so I rushed thru the back roads and went to my house closed the garage lol.
Not sure, I guess if he wanted to catch me he really would have caught me. But Yah like if I am really old and dying or cancer or something you'll see me on the news Cops are in high speed Pursuit of a elderly man. Now that would be awesome.

Back when I had the WRX I blasted past a couple stateys performing a traffic stop and downshifted 1-2 gears to get that loud vroom vroom. About a half mile down the road they crest the hill behind me with their sirens on. I got in the right lane and mixed into traffic so I was low key (silver wagon, LOL!). They rolled up into traffic clearly looking for something and turned their lights off. Turned at the next light and doubled back.

Well… I got two story here, one is mine and one belong to my friend.
My friend was driving at night, talking on his cell phone without handfree devices (I know I know…) As he drives, he saw a police car from the incoming traffic but was too late to put the phone away. This is one of those uphill residential area with center dividers, so in his back view mirror, he saw the police turned on the light then proceed to trying to make a u-turn few hundred yards down the line. My friend turn right into a residential community, parked into someone’s garage space. Turned off the engine and lowered his seats. He essentially got away. Well… as for me… I really didn’t try to run away, but there was a road on my university that used to be a two way street that got converted into a one way street about half a year ago. I generally remember that, but for that day, after a brutal mid term…. I forgot about it. Back out of the parking spots against the traffic, got out of the street with the police car facing me, then made a left turn. Needless to say.. the light was on and siren ran almost immediately with the cop right behind me. Here is the interesting part, I was so tired and out of it, I didn’t think I have done anything run, so I assume he is after someone and just kept on driving at about 15mph on campus…. I finally notice he was after me when he starts to turn the light/siren on and off and flash his headlight. I pulled over (by then, he has followed me for a good mile or two ), the cop asked me for mylicense and insurance. After he got back from his car, He asked : “Do you know what you did wrong?” Me: “No, not really. Did I not come to a complete stop at the stop sign?” The cop then stare at me for a while, give me back my license and ask, “You just got out of a test didn’t you?” My response: “Yes, Yes I did” The cop, handing my license and insurance over: “ you drive drove against the traffic, that was a one way street, don’t drive when you are too tired next time, consider this as a warning.” Then just got into his car and drove off. |

I have another story, but in this case I wasn't running from the cops. Thought you guys might find it interesting anyway.
One time I was going down Kanan Road from PCH (The 1 FWY for those of you not in California) and it's basically a mountain road with a steep incline, then right before coming into the city, there is a steep decline followed by a rapid slurry of Speed Limit signs (literally 100 feet from each other), 55, 45, 40, 35, stop light. Anyway, I was following a group of cars going about 65 on the decline (I was 4th in line) in the 55 zone and as we're building to 70 (the road is wide open, 4 lane and pretty straight at this point), I notice an officer on the right side of the road, thinking "of course he would be there" and I thought he would wait for us to pass, but I was wrong, and I saw him literally pulling in front of the first driver (again, he was going about 65 and downhill) and stopped in the lane directly in front of him pretty close. Two of the guys in the front swerved, one slammed his brakes so hard that he laid down some hard rubber. I myself pulled to the left, into the center lane to avoid any potential problems. My heart was pounding. On top of it, there were cars behind me going about the same speed as well, and I sure hoped they saw what I saw. So I swerved a little bit, and when the line came to a dead stop, the cop motioned for all three of the people in front of me to pull over (holy hell, it was the first time I've seen a multiple ticketing). He montioned for me to keep moving, so I considered myself lucky knowing that, well, of course I was speeding so I would have deserved that ticket. But it damn near cost me an accident. Still, I always believe that what the officer did that day was far more reckless than our speeding. |
