Rocket Bunny well, I've just seen so many I've lost interest.

^word

With sema coming up I was really hoping the leaks would start dropping that someone, ANYONE was working these blocks out and developing race inspired guts for them. Personally that is way more ballsy than company number 15 announcing their FI kit or another motor swap. Why no love for the 2.0? Where is the next innovation going to come from?

Unfortunately, the 2J is capable of even bigger power. It's going to cost a lot of money and take time to develop a 1000+hp reliable fa20. Trust me, I love the fa20. I'd love to see what it can do.

that 2j looks so sick in there. theres not a motor ever invented that I love more than a gte. I think its Toyotas best motor in its best chassis. to each there own. that GReddy intake manifold is beautiful.

Widebody/2JZ and everyone screams SEMA.

Be original and show me something I haven't seen...

Rocket Bunny and 2JZ-swap seen it before.

You know, I love the Supra, I love the 1JZ, the 2JZ, The MKII, the MKIII, the MKIV but for some reason I don't like the supra bits on other non-supras. i mean people are dropping the 2JZ into 240SX's and RX-7's. Those car while brimming with Supra power are not supras. and the twins are no exception.

Plus being brand new to the scene it's rather disheartening to see that people are just pulling 2JZ's and dropping them into FR-S's with the idea that more power=better car. rather than work with what they're given.

well i say that but at least it's not the LS swap. again no issue with the LS, but god damn does it have to go into everything under the sun?

i guess I was hoping for some more innovation at SEMA. hopefully tas2014 will have more diversity.

Firearms companies started putting Picatinny rails on everything because it's by far the best way to mount accessories. No one complains about the obsolescence of other mounting systems.

For years Intel processors were objectively better than AMD products and still make up the bulk of high-end gaming desktops. No one bats an eye at dropping a Core-i7 CPU/mobo into their system.

But when car tuners employ the best power plant (the GM small block), one which hits an excellent balance of weight, external dimensions, center of gravity, hp, linear torque delivery, price, and ease of maintenance.......everyone has an aneurysm.

I'll never understand this mentality.

THAT SAID......

I think both the 2JZ and LS aren't ideal for this chassis. The car already lacks a 50:50 weight balance. Throwing in those large engines, especially an iron-block straight-6, can only serve to ruin the handling characteristics which are the essence of the car (or require some extensive suspension tuning....$$$$). I could see dropping in an aluminum I-4 though, maybe Hyundai's Theta engine (only because Mitsubishi's 4B11T apparently doesn't mount longitudinally very easily).

Crawford Performance is doing some good stuff with a fully rebuilt FA20 out of Escondido CA currently at 450hp WHP. I'd be interested to see what they have planned for the future of this car.

Didn't they blow that motor twice?

Rocket Bunny well, I've just seen so many I've lost interest.

True that, but in the case of GReddy's/Ken Gushi's car, they have to do what it takes to stay competitive in a world of V8's and turbo V/Inline 6's.

In his current car they're running a custom EJ swap I think. That seems to be pretty competitive. I will say one of the FR-S' as Formula Drift this year was definitely down on power.
