We're getting closer!
Little bit of info.. Titanfall will never be on PS4. EA made that decision, not Respawn. However, there's a good chance that Titanfall 2 will be.

In other news, embargo lifted so Battlefield 4 confirmed to be running 720p on Xbox One and 900p on PS4, both run 60fps and are upscaled to 1080p. Post processing gives a softer picture to the PS4, and sharper on the Xbox One, albeit with more jaggies. Most importantly, both look really good. Not 1500 dollar PC good, but we're talking 400/500 dollar machines here.

And in other news.. this is a hell of a great deal!

And this is insane. I don't even play sports games most of the time, but damn this looks impressive. Makes NBA Live 14 look terrible!

Interesting about BF4... the overall image has a better FEEL to it (and I think more pleasing) despite not being as smooth. It feels like there is more detail because the soft AA filters on PS4 seem to do too much. Though, it could just be the bland feeling I get from the dull colors on PS4 too. Turn it up in the TV and it's probably more pleasing, but still would feel soft and lacking detail.

Curious to see how other games compare.

Yup, the textures on BF4 look higher res, even though they're actually not. It'll be interesting to see how each system plays out with post-processing handling in the future.
What's certain from that example though is that both systems probably need your TV calibrated to that system, which thankfully we can do. IMO the Xbox looks like someone took faux HDR and applied way too much contrast. And the PS4 looks washed out, like they set the gamma several notches too high.

I haven't heard much about CoD yet, or Assassin's Creed, but I'm sure we'll see something soon. And now I have no idea what extra games to get, but I'm not passing up the free one from Target.

BF4 is a PC game for me been playing a bunch the past few days. I wanted Watch Dogs so I'm going to settle for Killzone and AC4 now.

Amazon also shipped me my controller already. WTF Amazon...

Gamestop has controllers and Killzone in stock, and are selling them as well.

How do you like the controller? A vast majority of the reviews I've read have people saying that it's the best console controller ever - also coming from Xbox 360 people. That's a ton of praise, because the 360 controller was THE controller for me..

Info on CoD confirmed today. Both games optimized for 60fps. Runs native 1080p on PS4 and native 720p upscaled to 1080p on Xbox One.

I've played it at Comic Con and disagree with that greatly. It's a good upgrade from the awful and dated 1995/1997 design, but it still suffers a lot of the quirks and problems I have with it by keeping to a "familiar" Playstation design. Stick position is still awkward for precise movement and triggers still don't feel quite "right."

IMO, for the controllers: XBO > 360 >> PS4 >>>>> PS3. But then again, I was that kid that screamed about how amazing the Dreamcast controller felt over the clunky PS1/2 controller and awkward N64 controller.

Graphics are graphics, and can be tweaked with software, etc. It's hardly a deciding factor. The controller is what sits in your hand EVERY TIME YOU DO ANYTHING (lol unless voice/hand commanding with Kinect), so the controller is probably the most important thing to me. Third party PlayStation controllers have always been iffy, lack quality feel, and if they're anything like PS3 ones, they will not be allowed to use the factory Sony wireless technology (meaning either a separate wireless dongle or a long cord). I also ran into issues of third party controllers not supporting SIXAXIS movement, which was lovely when my flashlight flickered and turned off in The Last of Us... The 360 controller was almost perfect... damn near it (aside from horrible D-pad). The XBO feels like perfection.

Third party much of anything sucks.. Except Logitech. And Razer's Onza wasn't bad, and I would've kept mine if the d-pad wasn't even worse than the MS one.

But like I said, it's subjective, and I hear far more reviews saying people love it. Some people don't like symmetrical sticks, some do. I'll make my judgment in the next couple of weeks here.. Hopefully before I have my system in my hands.. damn demo units can't get to stores fast enough!

I was wondering that myself... I remember 360 kits out WELL before launch in places like GameStop and Best Buy. Playing PGR3 and CoD2 in-store single-handedly sold me on getting a 360. And that was coming from a die-hard Sony fanboy since the mid 90s. FINALLY I could play a shooter or a racer with a controller... and it wasn't just fluid, it was.... downright GOOD. Mice and wheels are good, but something about the 360 controller makes both of those genres increasingly playable for me; something Sony never did (still hasn't for me). The vast majority of games I play are shooters and racers... So it makes sense for me. PS3 excels at fighters and third person action/platformers.

Having PS1, PS2, PS3, and 360 controllers and used them all extensively. So far I love the PS4 controller over all of them. The balance is right, the sticks are right, the triggers feel solid and good. They don't squeak like my 360 controller. The Dpad finally feels nice. I'm unsure of the touchpad since I can't use it until I have a console, but I'm excited. It's a nice change.

Mice are THE only way I can play FPS games. Controllers are garbage for precise aiming. I only FPS on PC.

I used to think that. Mice are definitely better than controllers as a whole, but some engines make it significantly better than others. I use Call of Duty as an example because their aim down sights system just feels great on a controller. Very good balance between quick look from the hip and slow precise ADS. Not perfect or as good as a mouse, but good enough for me.

Also, for movement, interaction and items, I'll take a bunch of face and shoulder buttons over the awkward and uncomfortable wasd layout and random assortment of contortions needed to hit various keys in different positions on the keyboard (which can also vary wildly from game to game). Ironically, one of the things I did with my launch PS2 was plug in a mouse. You could play shooters from launch like Unreal Tournament with mouse look and controller for movement. Dunno if any other games support that anymore.

I played a lot of PC shooters in the late 90s and early 2000s, and after getting used to the excellent xbox controller back in 2005, I haven't had any motivation to go back. It also doesn't sit back comfy on a couch and play on a 50" tv with booming 5.1 surround instead of hunched over a keyboard at my desk. Just my personal experience.

CoD uses an aimbot that helps you aim. That's why it seems so good. The hit boxes are also larger to compensate for the horribleness of the aiming on the sticks. XBL also suffers from 12 year old syndrome. I don't want any part of that community.

If you're hunching over your KB you're doing it all wrong. Buy a proper ergonomic setup, and some great headphones. I'm pretty sure most people are more hunched on their couches than on computer setups these days. Most people don't realize it until someone takes their picture, etc. Couch postures are infinitely worse by a long margin because there is workplace equivalent to help drive better ergonomics.
