Bump.

I actually talked with a sales guy from Local Nissan. Now whether or not this guy knows what he is talking about or he is blowing smoke who knows.

He said that the new "Z" will be smaller, lighter and there 4 cyclder turbo will put ouver 330 hp and 300 foot lbs of torque from factory.

I asked if I could have the source of his information, paper work and options on the upcoming car he said he was not allowed to provide me with info, or he probably just didn't have it.

Funny that Nissan is talking smack, when the only reason they are switchng up with Z is because the BRZ/FRS/86 blow it away as a drivers car...mid life crisis car lol that Nissan guy drinking to much of his herbal tea. They wouldnt be making this car if it wasnt for the twins I test drove a Gensis couple 2.0 and a 2013 370Z and yes while the power on the strait away obviously is a bit more noticible and the interiors are a bit more high end (Toyota and Subie are addressing this with upcoming models) hands down my I would have picked my FRS over the Z and the coupe, there is no comparisson when it comes down to it. Even test driving the Genisis coupe it came with brembo brakes ... I didn't feel the cars braking or handling was even close to the TWINS. Hands down TWINS have lit a light under all these other car manufacures. Mustang is supposed to be smaller and lighter etc and is canning a lot of there recent options within lastcouple years.

The twins are dominant no doubt abou it, unless you have got the cash for the GTR which I sure as hell dont over 100 k, I personally still like the looks of the tiwns better especially with the creative minds of this forum and owners. Visually once the car is lowered and suspension done with after market wheels the car looks and exotic. Ive gotten more compliments, stopped at gas stations, at red lights with people asking about the FRS Toyota and Subie hit nail on the head with this car. And its only in its first model year. By 2015 or 2016 you would be hard pressed to find a better "drivers" car all these other cars are big bulky and heavy. Dont get me wrong I like the look of some of these bigger heaver cars, Not even a Dodge guy but I like the looks of a SRT 8 Challenger. Black on black lowered looks tough, but I still think the FRS/BRZ have that exotic look to them and any company now a days is going to hard pressed to competewith the twins performance, handling, cockpit feeling, and Price Tag. Once Subie comes out with the STI version turbo and if Scion is so worried about losing customers because of that 30k Barrier from a Scion, rebadge the car a Toyota GT 86 premium base model and offer the limited version spec- with all bells and whistles and the interior upgrades we find from factory around the world. Scion still has the TC to keep as there sports car of the Scion brand.

2015 or 2016 Toyota just needs to make the FRS what is really is a Toyota GT 86. Base model and limited and offer all the TRD accessories etc standard on the limited model, especially that TRD quad Tip exhaust I love that thing. Make it standard on the limited along with the Turbo. People would go nuts over them.

Sorry for the rant, but for goodness sake Toyota ... move the FRS up to Toyota brand......call it GT 86 or 86..... I dont even care.....cal it a damn Toyota FRS bottom line is if its a "Toyota" then they cant use the excuse anymore that they are afraid to price a Scion above 30k. And they could even offer 3 models of the GT86. Bare bones like the one I have and folks can add and mod as they please....a middle of road model with the bells and whistles dual climate control basically the monogram series options, and top of line....Toyota GT86 with all options including the quad tip exhaust that I am obssessed with and turbo...which could the "Toyota GT 86-R spec or TRD whatever .... I dunno but bottom line is its a win win for Toyota if they brand the FRS a Toyota because you no longer have to worry about for pricing for the scion brand.

Which in turn would open the door for the TC. I think base model TC is 19 or 20 k. If they say 30 k is limit of cost for scion brand...I know Mazda Speed 3, and genisis turbo coupe, are all under 30 k .... speed 3 is 24k or 24 with almost 300 hp.....so TC monorgram with a turbo there you have it Toyota Scion a sports car under 30 K and still a Scion. If Mazda can make a speed 3 stock with a turbo and nice factory options, I ve driven one so I know... now scion can compete with Mazda speed 3 and the genisis coupe and the ralliart, hell the regular wrx for that matter minus the last two are all wheel drive but still , Scion Turbo the TC monogram series keep it in the 24 26 range for turbo model and Toyota take the 86 where it should be and hell I would even buy both a turbo TC and a Turbo limited 86 .... I like how the TC center counsel faces you while in the drivers seat anyhow.....

Ok rant over.....I wish I called the shots at Toyota/Scion because I would be making the company a lot of money as I am sure a lot of members on the forum who are far more knowlegble then I am would be.

Take are guys sorry for pointless thread but if anyone is interested what would be your thoughts on that. A mazda speed 3 turbo with a nice interior is stickered at 24 k....there no reason the TC cant take over the helm as Scion Sports car....

And 86 3 editions branded Toyota....come one Toyota its a set of center caps and 4 emblems.....or the base then add all the goodies and know other car company will touch us....Subie and Toyota twins will rule...unless this new Nissan (Nismo) Z is similar in price and handling and performance...

ok now i am done ranting take care

The funny thing is that Nissan calls the BRZ/86 a midlife crisis car when in Australia it's user base is more than 80% 20-30 year olds.

The 370Z on the other hand is sold in Australia for 70k. It somehow gets a 30k markup out of nowhere, despite being priced a lot cheaper in Europe and the US. if 70k is marketing to the 20's crowd, then you have a ridiculous perception of the market Nissan. People in their 20's are buying houses and paying off student debts. The 86 is perfect for them. A 70k car is not.

No doubt their BRZ fighter in Aus will be priced around the same. Pfft.

Damn that's a long rant.
And I think you're putting too much merit in the Twins. Yes, they're "game changers" or something of the sorts, but to say that by 2015 you won't find a better car is a big statement. It's hard to imagine because as of right now there isn't anything else interesting on the market (in your opinion), but I don't think it'll hold up in the few years to come. Or at least I hope not.
Here's to wishing manufacturers want to create more competition and the buyers win

It's funny how just two years ago, I'd say 40% of the people on this forum never gave a second thought for Toyota. Mocking scion and claiming Toyota as title holder for the most boring and most unlikely manufacture for performance.

Now all I hear is how Toyota (with the help of subaru of course) are untouchable and on top of the game.

Front runners everywhere. Everyone is bashing on RR but he is loyal to his brand. I'm actually happy he has not got one.

i know Z-car fans will be happy for this new car to come out. i think a lot of s-chassis fans want a 240/180sx back, but i'm sure this car would satisfy that group as well.

lol @ "addressing" "poor" interior of the twins. The BRZ already addresses it for people that want more luxury type interior. The car was not meant to be a a comfy cruiser and the interior is fine IMO. Decent seats, decent stereo, nice steering wheel. They purposely cheaped on certain things like the $0.99 sun visors.

If they try to compete with GT oriented cars it will get fat and fast. And with the small amount of power it will be very noticeable.

I think Toyota have a ways to go before they reach Nissan's level of performance car's available in their range.

Nissan have the 370Z and the GTR.

If Toyota ever gets around to building it the Supra will slot in nicely above the 86, giving their range a bit more choice.

I'd rather the Toyota range be similar to the Mazda range. Where the 86 is the Miata/MX5 as in the driver's pure lightweight car and the Supra is the RX8. The sports coupe with a bit more grunt (A lot more grunt than the RX8 though hopefully)

Well, more competition the better it'll be for the consumer. Bring what you got Nissan. We've been waiting a long time for this.

lil fix.

I mostly agree if we are just talking about current lineups, though the ISF and LFA are unmatched by nissan/infiniti. Then again the QX70 v8 and the M56 arent competing with anything Toyota offers. Either way both brands provide a much larger range of vehicles than little mazda ever will. Glad they are getting in on the action, now Honda will be game too.

I thought about including the LFA in my post, but it's price and availability places it almost completely off the market scale.

I agree that it is 'out there', but if you are boasting a brands performance offerings you cannot omit that $400,000 halo car... Nissan has had theirs in the past, but current line ups are what we are yapping about.

Wait the 4 banger is going to put out 330hp and 300lb/ft tq?

They're already rumored to be downsizing the V6, I don't see the turbo I4 being the top of the line model eclipsing the performance of the V6. Longtime Z enthusiasts would riot as the fairlady has always been a 6 cylinder.

Nissan has just recently dropped the price of the 370Z to just under 30k and I assume the new Z35 6 cylinder staying at that price point. The smart move would be to position the turbo I4 as the entry level model with 250-280hp and priced in between the BRZ premium and limited models to lure in potential twins buyers who want "moar powa".

Nissan needs to make two separate cars, IMO.

First, trim down the body fat on the 370Z by a couple hundred pounds, and keep the 3.7L

Second, release the S16; 2.4L and turbocharged.
