It took ~1000 miles for the chirps to develop each time I got my HPFP changed.

Not too sure. I'll be keeping my ears open, though.

Sup guys, we just got the new pump in for the Southeast region last wednesday. Be sure they know the new pump number is SU003-05176. With a new production range of JF1ZNAA1#D#721371 so any VIN before that should be entitled to one. I'm actually gonna get mine done sometime next week.

Will Toyota/Scion dealerships pro-actively install the new pump or do you have to wait for this to happen and then complain daily? I have only been using 76 fuel at this point and have yet to hear anything in the first 600 miles driven... Keeping fingers crossed.

Thanks!

I went up to a Wendy's Drive-Thru the other night, and this teenage girl pops out of the drive through window and goes..."I think we have a cricket in the kitchen".

I was all like...

Time to take this thing to a dealership

my VIN is JF1ZNAA1#D#722171 2/13 production date and my crickets are pretty loud. I wonder if they just assigned a new PN to the "green dot" pump...

In Central Kansas, Service Manager called me to schedule an appointment, because he has the new fuel pump. Will have to see how the insulated pump sounds. Will be scheduling an appointment soon.

This makes me think that the part number changed, but it's still the same pump as the green dot pump.
vgi's 2/13 production has higher VIN than the new TSB.
The green dot pump started some time in 2/13.
That matches too.

Example:
2/10/2013, VIN 721370 was produced with old pump.
2/11/2013, VIN 721372 was produced with green dot pump.
2/20/2013, vgi's VIN 722171 was produced with green dot pump.
10/17/2013, new TSB with new part number is introduced that covers 2/10/2013 production date and prior...

See my point?

Insulated? Meaning they haven't fixed the fault but insulated the pump instead?
Why not issue insulation jackets to fit over the pump so that it can self destruct out of warranty without any symptoms?

I only know that now because this new pump is quiet, I mean really quiet compared to what I had become used to in 3700 miles. It is still a clattery engine, but not like it was. I will update from time to time as I get mileage on the new pump.
By the way, I am in the deep south, we are supposed to be back in the eighties for temperatures next week. I will be able to at least give it more of a workout in the higher temps.

man really wish I looked on the forums prior to visting the dealership today. the mechanic just said that another frs that had been brought in and that they didn't know how to solve it. that they have to wait for enough ppl to complain before toyota issues a recall lol should I take it back and request the new part?
